Check out the video game trailer. ESPN NBA Basketball Video Game Trailer Quicktime: http://www.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_espn_nba.html Supposed to be released October 22nd.
I haven't played NBA Live recently but I always liked the fact that in the Sega series, the player models/textures actually resembled the real players.
Screw the GAME A vs. GAME B fights... what I want to know is: How come they never "preview" the way you really play the game??? They always preview the REPLAYS, which really SUCKS, because you will only be seeing those when the game stops or during the intro.
maybe I am spoiled but the game looks weak I had both 2K3 and Live 2003, and I think Live gets my vote. Sure, 2K3 had the fancy shamcy franchise mode and what not but the game play goes to live [hands down].
The gameplay in 2K3 is just as good as the gameplay in Live. In fact, I think it's better. It's just that it's more suited to a 2000 Miami Heat style, as opposed to a showtime Lakers style. For some people that might make it a bore, but not for me. I sure wish both games had harder difficulty settings, though. No matter how crappy I make my team I can't help but score twice the points my opposition does. Oh well.
You just lost all credibility. Live, by far, has the worst gameplay of any of the major nba games. When Derek Fisher can CONSISTENTLY drop 50+ points on your ass, you know something is wrong. I guess some people are just wowed by the great graphics that EA puts out and somehow think that great graphics translates to great gameplay. The defense that the computer sticks on you in superstar mode is about as real as Karl Malone putting you in a headlock while you're on offense.
You are right on the money when yoy talk about Live bein poor on game play.I mean I ran wit tha Lakers and Fish avg was right around 26 per game and I didnt use him as much. You only really get to blow out an opponet in the 3rd period and all of a sudden the computer is hittin shots all over tha place(Dallas). And they dont even play that good a defense in Tha L anyway.........sup man...........
EA Sports puts out a great football game, in my opinion the best which is Madden. EA Sports puts out a terrible basketball game. the ESPN/Sega NBA 2k series by far is the better game. It's realistic. If you enjoy playing basketball the real way this is the game for you. If you want a more NBA Jam type style then by all means by NBA Live.
They both suck. I had way more fun with Street vol. 2. I found myself not caring that it was streetball and just had a good time playing it. I couldn't say the same with either 2K3 or Live. And I usually love actual 'simulations' way more. I'll try them both out again this year; hopefully they've made good improvements.
You know, it's funny: I actually don't like 2K3's gameplay on offense all that much. It seems very limiting at times. But it doesn't matter, 'cause it's SO DAMN FUN PLAYING DEFENSE in that game! It's the only b-ball game I've ever played where you can learn to dominate on defense as much as on offense. I mean, I'm disappointed when an opponent manages 40% on me... But yeah, Street is hella fun too. Even in that though, I'm all about blocking shots. Defense is just my thing, I guess. That's why I'm so glad we got Gumby.
Actually, I agree with you. I love playing defense. That's part of the problem I had. Live. Not much defense, period. 2K3. Imbalance between defense/offense. I like the realistic type of game...and in an NBA game, good defense often jump starts the offense. But the o in 2K3 was rather sluggish and limited...it just didn't feel like a total package. At all. EDIT: Wait....Gumby?
When I meant gameplay, I meant fun factor. Not realism, there is a difference. I've beaten both games to the ground with a stick and know the in's and out's of both games. in my opinion (and I am sure I am not alone), Live is better. also, I can guarantee you that i can make Derek Fisher drop 50 points on 2K3. Maybe not as easy on Live (he is rated higher on live).
Sega = Great Basketball game EA = Great Football game Ive consistently gone with the 2K series for basketball and Madden for Football. But, I have read that EA is stepping it up this year, so we will see how that goes. As far as realism and gameplay is concerned, 2K4 will kick ass.
There has never been a more gay video game than NBA Live 2003. Defense consists of getting a steal, or letting your man dunk on you everytime. Offense consists of running around like a chicken with its head cut off, then dunking it in on every possesion.
you obviously don't play the game. imo, you can do more on defense on live than on 2k3. Atleast in live, you can set up for a charge.
