Probably it is not so bad; at least ESPN does not have the rockets as losers in FA so far. I guess they based that on expectation. The losers included Mavs, Knicks and Bucks. http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/stein_marc/1581841.html
Yeah, the Rockets suck for not signing anyone on the first day. Too bad free agency is over and nothing more can happen. You guys have very short memories. When you don't have money, you wait. Then you get good bargains.
Because other teams want to overpay for guys like Ollie or Antonio Daniels - the Rockets have done a poor job?
Puedlfor, Our 2 starting guards play over 40 minutes per game. We need to get a backup guard. We have a 3 guard rotation and 1 of them is Moochie Norris. We're not going to trade EG, Rice's contract, or Mobley for a backup. Our only option is to sign one through Free Agency. Legitimate backups do not want the league minimum. I agree we shouldn't give a backup a 5 or 6 year contract (ala Moochie). However, we should still pursue it. if they want $2.5-3 million for 3 or 4 years, it's worth it because we have no other alternatives. And no one who is decent will accept anything less than that.
Pike, Barry, Daniels, Boykins, Raja Bell, Shammond Williams, Kendall Gill, Anthony Johnson, Kenny Anderson, Darrell Armstrong, Jacque Vaughn, Jim Jackson, Damon Jones, Speedy Claxton, Voshon Leonard, Calbert Cheaney, Tyrone Lue, Anthony Carter. All of those could probably be better for the Rockets than Moochie and/or Hawk...and some will end up having to sign for less than they are worth.
See...when I said that about 3 months ago...someone criticized me for listing all those people and EVEN PIATKOWSKI and wasting server space. And how ironic...that we are looking at signing Piatkowski! Okay..sorry...I'm leaving now.
Ummm yeah, last time I checked free agency lasted for more than two day did it not? Be patient. Stop your bi***ing too, please. CD said all along they were targeting veteran role players, not the superstar guys.
Thanks, I would actually even add Dermarr Johnson, since his injury was not supposed to be a career threatener and since he certainly has the ability. Would be worth the risk if he is very cheap (and he most likely will be). He was just a little timid before...but that can be changed.
I know he was a great addition but OT was extremely solid role player for houston.. I would love a younger version of Otis in our team at the moment.. anyone know if hes got any kids?
