Talented people get multiple chances but the vast majority of your list was not full of headcases that have been booted by multiple teams. I can see a case for Artest and Maxwell but not really on the rest of them.

Why be flippant back in response? You had a counter argument, just explain the counter argument. As soon as people disagree with each other on this poster board, the immeadiate reaction is that the original poster thinks the other poster is an idiot for not being able to understand.

We are talking over an internet forum where syntax, inflection, and many other forms of communicating a message get lost.

I don't think there is anyone on the GARM that wouldn't take another shot at Whiteside now seeing as though he's improved dramatically as a player.

    That's never been the argument.

The argument has always been against the posters who think they are psychics because they pined for Whiteside years ago in the draft, and hold it against Morey's head that he wasn't picked up when he was getting tossed around the streets of Lebanon as NBA leftover garbage.

    The points are -

-You are not a psychic (said posters who want a cookie for saying we should crown him years ago)
-There are reasons why Whiteside struggled to stay in the league for so long that go beyond basketball talent

I want someone with that talent but not the headcase. At the end of the day, they are both talented but neither player is truly great. Neither Cousins nor Whiteside are leading their teams to even play .500 ball.

This is what has made Howard a special player in his career versus just another good to great player like Cousins or Love or Gay. It may not be captured in statistics but there is something in players that makes them able to lift a team up where as others can't.

Long history here Airdough. I was flippant in response to a flippant post. But I don't call posters names and berate and badger them continually. Why didn't you mention the original flippant post?

And with this I've reached my quota of no more than 1 non-basketball post a day.

Lol 1 game for that ****? Good thing it was only Kelly and not Lerbon, or else he'd probably be out of the league.

Do we play them again? Because DMo isn't safe... Whiteside seems to have a pattern to the players he attacks...

So Harden's kick to the thigh, barely grazing Lebron is one game and elbowing a guy twice, possibly causing a neck injury and with clear intent is the same?

1 game, that's it? If I was Olynyk, I'd be pissed. He was lucky to be left of the stanchion or his momentum would've carried him into it and possibly injured him more. Whiteside is a repeat offender, and he'll likely attack someone else. NBA needed to come down hard and they failed.

So the ends always justify the means?? The guy is a scumbag who can't draw the line between competitiveness and complete dirtiness. I don't give a **** if he pulls down 50 rebounds a game, sometimes I just want to root for decent human beings. I don't think it's too much to ask for someone to be a semi-adjusted, functional person while getting paid millions of dollars to do something.

I don't have a problem with him playing tough and sometimes mistakenly overstepping the boundaries of toughness in an NBA game. Many talented players started their careers that way and ended up having great careers. The down side of it is NBA refs will always be piling it on you because the NBA doesn't want to see anymore Oakleys and Rodmans in the more family-friendly era of the NBA.

What I have a problem with is potentially fatal elbows to the back of someone's neck. That's f'ed up and he should get way more than a one game suspension. I wish NBA players would make a fuss to the NBA about the leniency of the suspension.

No, not really. You could get away with a hell of a lot, but that was just beyond the pale. He'd be allowed to play the next game, though.

One or two fights may not mean much when you are paying him the minimum, but when a team decides on whether to pay him substantial money, they will be sure to account for his behavioral/mental health issues as a part of the calculation. Nobody wants to be caught in a Larry Sanders situation even with a talented player.
