They could've let Case go and gotten nothing in return. Yeah, it's minor move but it's better than nothing. Leave it to whiny Texans fans to b**** about it though.
Seriously. Not sure why people are b****ing about this, but I guess some people here are looking for any reason at all to post something negative.
Get a free pick for nothing? WHAT A HORRIBLE MOVE! Seriously people, if Arian Foster could be had, a player that was not drafted, no pick should be dismissed no matter the low odds of the player panning out you pick with it.
Gotta give Rick Smith credit. He's able to get draft picks for players the team would have just cut. Now, turning those picks into solid contributors, that's another story.
Someone had the audacity to tweet that it was a "sneaky good move" so how in the world can you expect that level of analysis go without a response?!?!?
"Sneaky good" makes us lol because it's a silly overstatement. We are Daryl Morey disciples. We have a certain standard for what a "sneaky good" move is in sports management. Don't confuse mocking the writer with mocking the Texans. (or b****ing, for that matter, which basically no one is doing)
Exactly. We could have cut him for nothing. But we ended up trading him back to the team where we picked him off their practice squad. End result, 7th round pick. Sounds sneaky good to me. Also got two W's out of Keenum.
Morey, of the trade for a 2nd round pick and a 2nd round player for a 2nd player who barely gets off the bench?
The Chronicle is reporting that Case asked to go to St. Louis, that the Texans were going to give him a chance to compete for a roster spot.
Well, Case knew he'd be the odd man out here. Right now St. Louis only has Foles and Austin Davis. He might be hoping to hang on as the 3rd QB there, and if St. Louis was willing to trade anything for him, maybe they're thinking the same thing. I'm still not sure if Case has practice squad eligibility left. The rules are a little weird. He either has 1 year left or none. But it'd be weird for St. Louis to trade for him only to put him on the practice squad where anybody could sign him.
Yeah, that is what I was thinking. He saw the hand writing on the wall. After drafting Savage they likely weren't going to cut him.
