I hated him and I know he's hated, but I can't help to think that Pipen would be good for us right now. I think when he got to Houston he believed he was something he was not (a goto man). But now he's just happy dropping dimes. Which would be a good thing for us.
Please never mention his name again. I hate him more than any other player I have ever hated. I dare to say the rockets hate him as much also.
Yeah, the Rockets don't want any old people on this team, besides Rice. That's why we "let" Hakeem go to the Raptors. Old people just suck! Honestly, Pippen would be a good fit (sort of like an older Lamar Odom, no?) but I don't see any marquee FA wanting to come to Houston until we can prove we can get into the playoffs.
I can agree with ya'lls sentiments, but he is the best (of his playing style) that the rockets maybe can afford. I not worried about credibility, it's just the truth. He would make good fit. Swallow the Pride.
you mean that 2nd banana crybaby hack? forget the spurs, if anyone ever deserves and * by their ring than it snottie pippen. he has to be the luckiest, most overrated guy who ever played ball. 50 greatest player my ass. i hate malone wayy more, but at least he aint a quitter. anyway, hes old and decrepit. wouldnt even make it thru a year. that is my rocket fan take, but... maybe the 99 season was the first year that rudy t was loosing his effectiveness as a coach. his gameplan, if there was one, was poor and predictable. maybe pippens skills and strengths were not properly utilized. maybe he was frustrated at barkley's poor work ethic, which jordan had warned him about ...maybe, GASP...pippen is not the vile fiend that we make him out to be!!! in either case i still hate him and would never want him again.
Even if we didn't hate him so much and his one season here never existed I doubt he would even consider coming to us. The only way he comes to a young team not in the championship picture is if they are the Bulls or if they offer some sort of crazy contract. We offer neither of those.
It has nothing to do with how he behaved when he was here. It has everything to do with the fact that the guy is old and well past his prime, nevermind the fact that he has missed a ton of time over the past two seasons with injuries. If you have a young team that is growing together, you don't want a guy like Pippen. The only reason you sign someone like him is if you are a veteran team in contention for a title.
While we're at it, we should sign these 2 players as well: Let bygones be bygones and swallow your pride, Jerry and Ralph.
Better yet he can swallow my foot after I ram it down his throat if he comes anywhere near the Rockets. Let Quitten crawl back to the Bulls and beg for a back office job or something. Besides, he doesn't fit this team at all, we need shooters.
I think Pippen is exactly what we need for the short-term goal. Old or not he's better than what we have in place now. I know you are loyal fans, but I can't believe that you would comprimise the good of the team to pamper your hate for pippen. Grow-up.
Just the thought of suggesting this makes me want to hunt you down and beat you senseless with a toothpick.
Then why is a basketball genius like Jerry West looking to add him to a young (and definitely not contending) Memphis team? Pippen may be looking to mentor young players, as a stepping stone to a coaching or front office gig. There might be a place for such a player with the Rockets (who professed they were going to bring in veteran experience), where right now the only mentors we have with recent lengthy NBA experience are Rice and Ewing. Pippen already has his rings - if he wanted more, he would be jumping on the Laker bandwagon with his buddy Phil. He obviously has other motivations now. It might be money (the Lakers don't have their MCE anymore), but I doubt it; Portland would probably offer more to keep him than any other team will give.
