Exactly. Wasn't until after 07 when the Spurs starting getting away from that ugly style basketball. That was a big complaint about them. Had some ugly Finals games, especially against Detroit. Compare that to their last two appearances, and the style of play is night and day.
Doesn't mean that many people who appreciate basketball for what it is don't find that slow down defensive paced game to be more beautiful basketball than the 7 seconds or less Suns speeding up the court and shooting it after a maximum of 2 passes.
Well, beautiful doesn't guarantee anything. I think Bob thinks they have the right/best idea, but from following him, I don't think he necessarily always agrees with their execution. I know he's a Morey fan, so that should make him a fan of the Rockets by default, but it doesn't always come off that way.
Winning basketball is beautiful basketball. For the most part, Rockets have played beautiful basketball this year despite the challenges.
i like that dude he's a professional gambler, was like a multi-millionaire in his twenties just from gambling on the NBA. he likes the rockets but not mchale. and by "sharpest" i think he means "most dangerous". my god, imagine what a fully healthy dwight, smith, jones could do together. and d-mo after he recovers from falling off a cliff.
I know Mr. Clutch was being sarcastic, but not sure about your comment. Hard to like a team if you dislike all the management. Plus didn't management bring those players in/develop the drafted players?
to be fair, we have some of the most hated players in the league. If i wasn't from Houston i would absolutely hate the rockets for various reasons. Makes sense we are the most hated team in the league right now.
What isn't fair is the hate that the Rockets players get, especially Dwight Howard. I live in LA and lot of the hate comes from here and spreads out from LA since this is a media center. But all Dwight did was leave to play somewhere else. He didn't string them along. Dwight even made a special trip to tell the Lakers in person that he had decided on Houston before announcing publicly that he would sign with the Rockets. Shaq hates Dwight because he feels Dwight stole his nickname and doesn't like any center to get praise rivaling his own. Then people complain that he doesn't take the game seriously. I disagree with that. He has a fun loving personality, but that doesn't mean he isn't serious about winning. Dwight takes responsibility when he doesn't do well, and has worked through injury. The other Rocket that people hate on is Beverley. He's an in your face defender, but he doesn't normally play dirty, though he occasionally does cross the line, but not on a regular basis, and not enough to deserve people's hate. They say he's the kind of player Rockets fans would hate if he was on another team, but not me. He hasn't done anything to deserve my hate no matter what team he played on.
i don't like the Rockets. I LOVE the Rockets ! and screw ya if you don't. I love the Rockets even when they suck. Rockets basketball has given me my greatest blast of sports nirvana I have ever experienced as a fan. The players, coaches and ownership of the Rockets, not to mention the GM's, have over all represented exactly the way I want a team I embrace to conduct themselves and represent. Just watching Brewer turn to the camera a week ago after complete balling and say, "Go Rockets! " and mean it just like you or me. Hell yeah.He totally has bought in. Go Rockets !
I love my team, and my team is the Houston Rockets. What's the point of this thread? Some goofus wrote something uncomplimentary? Some brilliant cat wrote something praising our glorious heros? If the answer is "some brilliant cat wrote something praising our glorious heros," then groovy. If not, I just don't care. Maybe I'm getting numb to all the bad mouthing headed our way, sunup to sundown.
That IS what happened, and that is also the point of this thread. Rockets get too much national hate, it was great to see someone as smart and known as Haralabob give the Rox some love.
