well me and my cuz got into an argument regarding this topic earlier. i thought i would ask the intelligent clutch bbs members for their opinions......

do yall think scottie will be a hall of famer?? now put all the scottie hating behind. the boy is still one of the 50 greatest of all time. he lead the hated bulls to six championships(with jordan of course)

my cuz begs to differ he feels like scootie hasnt accompished enough as a player in his career to earn a spot as one of the elite. he argues that scotties championships were all jordan and that scottie had nothing to do with it...maybe just a minor role.

he also argues that scottie has never won without jordan....

but i would like to also note...jordan has never won without pippen.....both go hand in hand

just want to see what yall think about it

The basketball hall of fame is the least discriminating and most bizarre of all the major halls - primarily because there's no seperate hall for college, or women's basketball.

Pippen will be a hall of famer - but he was never one of the 50 best players in history.

Larry Johnson got it right....."Pippen would've never won anything if not for 23." He's a second banana, but a great player by his lonesome? Nah... He had his chance and blew it with his sit on the bench temper tantrum because PJ decided to run the last play in the playoffs for Kukoc rather than him. He's a chump and I'm still mad at dogging out Sir Charles.

as a matter of fact he was listed on sports illustrateds top 50 greatest basketball players of all time. also in slam magazine. i have the issue.

    bammaslamma-
and yes jordan is the reason the bulls won their champiionships. but u cant say that pippen didnt help them. his d back in the days was crazy. yea maybe his all star reighn was short lived.he is a hothead caused alot of problems with his team but in the end he was always hustling. picking up that steal, or buring that trey(considering he cant even shoot).... yea he sucked for the rockets i aint going to lie. he jsut couldnt play with that many stars on one team. but his basketball skillz was spectacular. the best all round game in the nba.

Pippen was the best role player (capable of playing many types of roles) in NBA history IMHO.

That is not what I said. I know he was listed as one - but that listing was erroneous, as he never was one.

Pippen may be a good role player (Horry is best role player IMO) but definitely not Hall material. He hasn't been able to do anything by himself, and his stats aren't mindbogglingly good. He probably will get to the Hall on acount of Jordan, but I don't think he's a top 50 player.

Horry is definately one of the best role players in NBA history & is by far & away the best post entry passer in NBA history (skilled/long enough to find the passing lane, good range for a big man). However I don't see his skills to be as diverse as Pippen. Pippen better play maker, ball handler. Pound for pound better rebounder & defender. Horry is (was) a good finisher, but Pippen was a playmaker & a finisher.

Scottie Pippen hall of famer without a doubt, the single greatest all around player of all time, that should be blatantly obvious from the fact that he was named and is one of the 50 greatest players of all time. Some argue he did nothing without Jordan, I argue Jordan did nothing without him. And on top of all this greatness he might still play another 2 years, and possibly pick up another two rings but I'm not sure with what team, and I don't think he is either.

thats funny i didnt know u were the one who decided who the top 50 was.....

hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion. but the bottom line is pippen WILL be in the hall of fame gauranteed......

and robert horry is not and will never be better than scottie..... how many all star games has pippen been in? all defensive teams? for how many years?? championships???

jordan never won without pippen. he had his chance to prove it and faltered. no single player in the nba has ever carried their team to an nba title (except of course our very own hakeem) look at all the laker greats and the celtic greats. at least 2 players on each team. so its not fair saying somone rode someone elses coatail to a championship. its a team game. everyone is a role player regardless of what their role is

How about Tim Duncan. Not a lot of great players on the current championship team. Really, Hakeem's supporting cast was as good as or better than Duncan's.

Pippen will get in. It's like saying James Worthy didn't deserve to get in since Magic did all the work.

I wonder if Rodman will even be considered. If you take out that whole thing about being a freak, he has a nice rebounding record and he has 5 rings, but he never was great on offense.

Pippen might be the most under-rated player in the games history. When Jordan retired the first time the Bulls won two less games. Thats incredible he also was the runner up for MVP that year. MJ would not be considred the best player of all time if he didnt have Pippen as his teammate. IMO Pippen is right up there with players like Dave Robinson, Patrick Ewings etc. HOF players but not up there with the all-time greats.

Dont get me wrong I still hate the guy but you have to give him credit. To compare him to Robbert Horry is a joke
