Metallica is suing another band becasue they used the chords E and F.

    Link

This is unreal. How can someone sue for the use of E and F chords? Is two chords enough to establish a pattern? I thought you needed atleast three to get a sequence in a pattern? These are basic chords!

Any shred of respect I still had for Metallica just flew out the window. Lars is a freaking moron.

That has to be a load of crap. No way I'm believing that. Stay away from the E and F chords....OR ELSE. OOOH! If it's true, then we know who is going to lose this case.

Guess it should have rang a bell when an MTV looking site came up with that address.

    Metallica uses F chords?

In other news, John Bohnam's son is suing every drummer who ever played the snare drum on 2 & 4. :D

Wait...I thought Metallica was busy with their other lawsuit. You know, the one where they're suing every guitar player in the world for using their trademark 6 strings on a guitar?

Why cant consumers sue all of the CRAP METAL bands that use dropped D tuning and claim to write original music?

I would love to be on the jury for that one......

I hope you're not talking about Smashing Pumpkins. :D

Doesn't Corn...er, Korn use guitars with a low A (lower than the E)?

yes...it's a 7 string guitar. I think it's 6 standard strings and an additional low B string. Then they tune one step lower. 7 string guitars got nothing on a good baritone guitar. I can't believe scrubs like Head and Munky got their signature 7 stringer from ibanez though.

What do you got against downtuning? Metallica tuned to CGCFAd for the entire St. Anger album. What about Tool? You tell me Tool doesn't write original music? I don't remember any tool songs where the song was in anything other than drop D.

Let's face it...this isn't the 80s anymore. No more guys with mullets running around singing in high pitched voices like someone kicked them in the nuts. If you're fond of those guys then I don't know what to say.

Forget Drop D...I tune to Drop D and then down another 1.5 steps. I'm in B-Gb-B-E-Ab-db. Like I said, you can't sound hard and heavy without downtuning these days. There's a reason metallica conformed.

First Napster, now they have claim ownership over some chords!!!!! Geez, these guys suck. I hate to pile on Monetallica, but their new album blows chunks to boot. Guess they have to make money via their old catalog, touring and.......lawsuits.

i'm surprised as to how gullible people are these days. There's been like 10 threads on the harmony-central.com forums from 10 different people who think it's breaking news or something. I guess people are too smart to look at the address bar every once in awhile.

these guys need to make a quick exit. They've been washed up for years. "Unforgiven II"? Come on.
