Good news, Rodrigo Righthander Rodrigo Rosario, who is on the disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis, received some good news Tuesday when team doctors read the results from the magnetic resonance imaging exam he had Monday. "They said I have a mild case of inflammation in the rotator cuff," he said. "It's not too serious. "They said I should just rest and work on the shoulder until the inflammation goes away. They said the inflammation will work its way out in about two weeks. "This is good, because I just wanted to know what I had. It was tight, and it hurt a lot, but now I know what I have. It's not a tear. It's inflammation." General manager Gerry Hunsicker also was pleased with the diagnosis. "There's really nothing serious going on in there," Hunsicker said. "It was normal wear and tear that you'd expect with a pitcher. We just want to get him healthy. We need every arm we can get at this point." Houston Chronicle Link to Article
Excellent news. Young Rodrigo certainly earned himself the right to a few more MLB starts, whether he continues his excellent pitching or not. I hope he doesn't get sent back down.
If he is healthy and isn't in the Astros rotation then they'll send him down so he can pitch every 5th day. As of now, the only candidate to replace in the rotation is Redding. They won't move Oswalt, Miller or Robertson out. Villone has been excellent since joining the team. Redding has his moments. Redding is the youngest of the current starters at 25 and is even younger than Rosario.
How many options does Redding have left? I know he pitched well yesterday, but to me, he is scary everytime he goes out there.
The thing with our rotation is, it's scary when any starter goes out there. I think there's only one with a winning record; let's face it, they blow.
They all blow, except for Oswalt, Miller, Redding most of the year, Robertson the last two months, Rosario in his two starts and Villone - whe even though we know will end up sucking again, does not suck now.
Rosario will go back to NO. Him being brought up was a desperation move as stated by Hunsiker. He was brought up before Villone was signed when Robertson went down and O was on the mend. He is not ready for the bigs yet but definitely showed he may have the ability to pitch up here even though he is not thought to be highly talented pitcher. You'll see him go in a trade for another starter or with the 'Stros in 2005.
