Why are most people around here content on trading mobley?
What player can we get for him? The man lights it up, is a little
boneheaded with the ball somethings, well most of the time, but he's a great talent, top 10 shooting guard. Unless we get someone thats gonna help us right away, I say we keep the guy.

From what I read from the Sentinel, it doesn't seem like Riley is going to deal Grant. Riley is hoping to a line-up of Wade (PG), Jones (SG), Butler (SF), Brand (PF), and Grant (C). At least that is the intent with the bidding for Brand.

Because at that time Hakeem was a 10 year vet and the "newness" of him being in Houston had worn out. There was no buzz surrounding the team other than the fact that they started the season on a big winning streak. The point I was trying to make, is if you are going to try and sell more season tickets in Houston (a model fairweather basketball town) then it helps to bring in a big name player to create some sort of buzz.

Winning games is going to gradually bring fans in...... very gradually.

Daniels and Piatkowski would be great additions to the Rockets because they would provide "role players" off the bench. I think that is one thing this team lacks, a definition of everyone's role.

One of the things I think everyone might be forgetting is that Rice's contract is up at the end of the season, and @ $9 million per season that is a contract that cap-strapped teams will want to trade for. If JVG doesn't like the direction of the team, I'm pretty sure he will not be afraid to confer with CD and make a trade.

Attendance will be up form last year because of the novelty of the new arena. Just like Minute Maid Park (or Enron Field back then) the Astros had a dismal 2000 season and attendance still soared through the roof.

    You're kidding right?

I wouldn't focus on what he did in Portland last year, but what he did for the Spurs. He's a PG first and that reflects in his stats.

I think we could expect something more similar to his last year with the Spurs...

No comparison if you look at Moochies numbers.

I hear a lot of people talking about how the $9 mill comes off the books for any team we trade with, but doesn't it also make sense that the Rockets could hold onto Rice, then have a bunch of capspace for ourselves next season? Are there any good free agents available for next season? Last time I checked, the Rockets qualified as a 'cap-strapped team'...

Even if the Rockets just let Glen Rice's contract expire...the Rockets will still not have any capspace. They will still be over the salary cap. So maybe if they trade Glen, they can get somebody good in return......I'd like to keep him and let his contract expire. But who knows! Glen Rice for Jamal Mashburn? TRADE ACCEPTED!

Getting Piatowski and Daniels would/will be great. Eric is a great 3p shooter and that's a huge addition in itself, we don't exactly have a lot of GREAT 3p shooters, so getting him will be good. And Daniels is a way better backup for Francis than Mooch is. So I think these are superb additions if we could get them:)

I would love this if true.

    I really like Pike.

I don't particularly care for AD as a backup pg, but he is way ahead of Mooch.

And if they split the exeption, they are coming below what their value is worth, imo.

Well this thread hasn't been locked yet.

Pike is an EXCELLENT shooter...better than Mobley or Francis or Moochie or Hawkins or Posey. But that's pretty much all he does. He can also rebound too. Half of the MLE sounds good for him.

Antonio Daniels is MUCH better than Moochie and should be asking for the entire MLE...but he hasn't played much the last season.

I still think this is a rumor...and instead......our backup guards will consist of Moochie Norris, Tito Maddox, Juaquin Hawkins, and hopefully James Posey.

Has anyone heard this on 740AM? Or does no one listen to 740AM?

I wouldn't mind signing those two guys, but I still really hate our 4 situation. I really think the 4 position is becoming the most important position in the league.
Does anybody think that Cato can play the 4? Maybe this is just a pipe dream, but he did have a pretty solid year last year and I'm so sick of watching Griffin jack up 3's getting killed defensively and get no rebounds and Mo Taylor getting killed defensively and get no rebounds.

Oh I forgot something, as long as I'm ranting, why can't the Rockets get in shape? I mean, is it that hard to keep weight off in the off season. Kelvin Cato, while playing well last year, has become rather soft the last few years and he used to be ripped in college and his first year at Portland.
And Glenn Rice has become one of the fattest jokes in the league. He is such a fraction of a player of what he used to be.

We need some type of incentive program, like if you lose a few pounds than you get one joint or a night out at Heartbreakers.
