Too bad. Dudes that big don't do so well as they age.

Am I only one or has Mason always looked like a real life Venom (Spiderman villain)?

    Sad news.

He had the softest touch for a dude his size.

Didnt realize he had gained so much weight after the NBA.

Very sad news for Knicks fans. He epitomized the toughness of the 90s Knicks.

What I always remember about him was his handles for a guy his size. Can picture him putting it on the floor like it was yesterday.

When called a "point forward", I remember him correcting the interviewer on TV and saying he's a "power point".

Saw the thread title and immediately began to think of guys that gave Dream problems, the first 2 that popped in my head were Mark Eaton and Mason.

I hated the Knicks back then, but I respected the hell out of him and Ewing and Oakley.

One of the few players in NBA history to defend Hakeem fairly well. Hope he gets better and has a high quality of life.

Mas and Oak were the only 90s Knicks players I ever respected. Good to hear he's ok.

    Metabolic syndrome/ heart disease

He needed to aggressively lose weight, exercise daily, take baby aspirin regimen, cholesterol pills, fish oil, salads, fruits, veggies etc.

I presume he did none of the above and I presume he never went to MD to ck for all the m.s. markers.(or if he did, was unable to make aggressive lifestyle changes)

He was eating himself to death apparently.

Sadly- it's easier to sit on couch and eat pizza.

    Hope Barkley is paying attention.

Prayers for he and his family.

Ok. I'll say it. Don't forget to consider if steroids play into this. There have been rumors about Mason and steroids since the beginning.

Steroids (and cigarettes) highly accelerate the effects of metabolic syndrome like the rapid artery clogging effects of hi cholesterol.
