    Joe...

In another thread, I asked people to lay off you, and also offered you this advice:

" When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."

You thanked me for the former, but obviously completely overlooked the latter. Seriously, show some semblance of maturity and class, and back out of this thread with as much grace as possible while that option is open to you.

I normally don't like New Guy Pile Ons, but you're being ridiculous. This is not an ESPN board, nor NBADraft.net. This place is not perfect, but we have certain standards which we all maintain in order to keep this place what it is; the best. Please behave accordingly, or simply go away.

    PEACE

Why is everyone always saying that a thread should be locked?

    MacBeth-

While I would like to drop this topic, it seems that most people have made up their minds about me based on one stupid post. Thus, I feel compelled to defend myself.

I would much rather talk about basketball (or even baseball) than this. Unfortunately, I don't think that I will be afforded that opportunity based on the afore-mentioned ill-advised post.

I would sympathize, and even would have advocated your position were it not for this very thread. I don't see any way of reconciling wanting to drop this, and starting a thread with the express purpose of insulting someone. This was easily more ill-advised than the previous post, IMO.

If you stop posting in it, it will go away. If you want it to go away, you'll stop posting in it. Pretty simple.

If you find it hard to stop posting in it without defending yourself, then after your next post in this thread, stop reading the thread, and you will have nothing to defend.

    Misson accomplished.

Then you get to do what you rather like to do.

    Heath and MacBeth-

I agree with you both that I should stop posting in this thread, but I find it impossible not to. I started this thread because I wanted to say one last thing to Another Brother but the previous thread was locked. I thought that the headline would get his attention without it actually being an insult. I don't want to be considered an idiot on this board or have everybody thinking my opinions aren't valid. I fear that the piling on in the ill-advised TJKidd thread has now made this quest futile.

    1) If, as you acknowledge, you made the intial error, you should swallow your pride and not succumb to the need to say 'just one more thing.' Certainly not to the degree of starting a thread like this.

    2) Besides, the just one more thing is a formula for disaster...what, then, if AB responds in kind, with just one more thing? And then you feel the unconquerable need to reciprocate, and we're into a bad shampoo commercial.

    3) Finding it impossible to stop posting suggests a lack of maturity, especially when you say that A) You want to, B) You are/were in the wrong, and C) You are a parent. Imagine trying to explain to your child your reasoning for starting a thread called " Where do you post a thread insulting another poster? ( In this case Another Brother)...wouldn't you feel silly as hell? Think about it.

This thread reminds me of this Hardball Skit from SNL a few years back.

    http://snltranscripts.jt.org/02/02thardball.phtml

Chris Matthews: Our next guest is doing his best to help the Democrats win. He made headlines last week, when he equated homosexual sex with incest and bestiality! Please welcome the man who put the idiot into "He's an idiot!" Republican Senator Rick Santora! Senator, do you think yur controversial remarks are gonna hurt President Bush in 2004?

Sen. Rick Santorum: Chris, I was taken out of context. Uh.. when I said gay sex was as bad as man-on-dog sex, I meant man-on-male dog. Sex between a human make and a female dog, I have no problem with.

Chris Matthews: Good Lord, this is better than I thought! Keep going!

Sen. Rick Santorum: I have no problem with gay people. I-I like Liberace.. I like George Michael.. I even like the gay Teletubby. I don’t like it when Liberace, George Michael and the gay Teletubby have sex with each other.

Chris Matthews: Don't stop, Sentora! One more time!

Sen. Rick Santorum: Chris, I'm not asking much. All I’m asking for is every American male to get a tattoo on his fanny that reads "Exit Only".

Chris Matthews: [ chuckles ] Three in a row! We call that a turkey where I'm from, people! Al Sharpton, final thoughts! Your upcoming campaign!

Rev. Al Sharpton: Uh.. there is no campaign, Chris.. I'm gonna go back to what I do best! Showing up where the rich white people hang out, and screaming at the cameras "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Chris Matthews: Believe me.. it's broke! Sen. Foot-in-Mouth!

Sen. Rick Santorum: Chris.. my opinions may be unpopular, but they're not uninformed. I've been involved in literally thousands of acts of gay sex, and not once have I felt like it's okay.

Chris Matthews: I guess I should have seen that one coming!

    JBIIRockets-

I am pro-gay, so to equate me in anyway with santorum is insulting.

    MacBeth-

I didn't say that I needed to get the last word, just that I had one last point to make. the reason I can't stop posting is because I am interested in what people have to say to me. I don't think that a curiosity about human interaction suggest immaturity but you may be correct, I've never considered it important to be considered mature.

    In General-

I don't think I did anything too bad, considering all of the consternation it caused. I think the response has went far beyond the original post, which was made half in jest anyway.

that should have read "pro-gay rights". i think gay people should have all the rights anyone else does. I know that your post didn't really imply that I was anti-gay, but I just wanted to be clear.

    This thread is so funny.

    Joe,
Your problem is that you fell you have to have the last word. You just can't let it go.

You keep saying you apologuised about the TJ thing. But in actuality you kinda apologuised and then capped it off with an insult. I'm sorry but blow me doesn ot come across as sincere.

It's your words man! Tone them down a bit. Don't blow your wad.

It would not have been a big deal if you simply had said that TJ is ugly. But you had go the extra mile and say that he was uglier than dog****.

You see what I'm saying? There are many fathers here that could easily take offense to that, whether they agreed with you or not. I'm sure many agree to an extent but not to the extent that you expressed. Get it?

As for AB, he's a comedian. What do you expect?! If your best friend had come back on you like that you would have laughed along with every one else. But you took it personal and just can't let it go.

You say he was condescending but how do you figure that? It just words. You created the emotion, not him.

Besides, you started it whether you want to believe it or not.

    Just let it go......

I apoligized in a different thread, that I started minutes after starting that first one. I don't really feel that I have to have the last word, I'm just replying to people.

    Joe,

I know JBII can defend himself but I believe that he wrote that the THREAD reminded him of a skit on SNL, not that you reminded him of that waste of space Santorum.

You have stated several times that you maybe went too far on the kid(d), that you feel insulted by AB and others, have made that clear, and want to stop posting, yet you keep posting, and posting, and inviting others to pile on.
This leads me to a couple of questions. Do you really fell it necessary to get the last word in? Are you trying to get banned? It seems from comments in the other thread that this is not the first time that you have gotten bored and decided to start a random thread that would just piss people off. There have been several here who have done that and been banned never to return, and a few more that have done it, been banned, learned a lesson and returned under a different moniker and added insight and humor to the board. Maybe you can figure that out before you get banned...

    maybe maybe no
    :p

edit: OK So either SpaceCity is the other half of my brain, or more than one person was thinking the same thing... yikes...

    SpaceCity-

Words can convey emotion without using obvious words like sad mad, glad. Perhaps you have not read a book lately. One I recommend is Soul on Ice by Eldridge Cleaver.

I just compared you (in this thread) to Santorum because you continue to shoot yourself in the foot with some of your responses. The gay part was just the subject matter. I am not accusing you of being gay.

Unwatchable the last ten years?? Will Ferrell? Darrell Hammond? Tracy Morgan?

To each his own I guess.
