The average salary for a C in this BIGMAN starving league who put a considerable amount of premium over them is at around 8 mil. Even scrubs like Mike Doleac, Jerome James, & Greg Foster got a MLE money last season. Getting a serviceable STARTING C for a mere 5.5 mil of starting salary is NOWHERE NEAR OVERPAYING. The way a lazy bum like Kelvin Cato could stole that much money from your team pockets, i can understand the grim sentiment here. Getting Kandi's service for a mere MLE money is certainly a steal in Minny part. But for SA, Kandi was NEVER counted as their FA signing prospectee this summer. Fact that Coach Pop has visited Rasho in his hometown -Ljubljana- in Slovenia to talk him out, will give us better picture on how high he is in the Spurs FO eye. He IS a more complementary player to TD compared to Kandi, with his high FG%, and consistent midrange J and face the basket game -by driving & putting the ball on the floor- something that Kandi never developed as a player up till now. He's also more cerebral, having a stronger work ethic, and not an attitude problem waiting to explode. Doesn't have any bad medical history as well -that repaired knee of Kandi ! Getting him is just a DECENT move by Spurs FO in my book. Just a preserving the status quo move. Still waiting eagerly to see what they'll do with the rest of leftover caproom they have, the fact that Salary cap number has gone HIGHER than expected, at around 43.8 mil. Spurs only have a 26 mil of committed salary + 5.5 mil of Rasho's starting salary next season. 43.8 mil - ( 26 mil + 5.5 mil ) = 12.7 mil of caproom left. Elton Brand's/Odom/Hamilton MAX = 25% of caproom = 10.95 mil I can still smell something cooking out there !
