Maybe if he hit the millions of missed threes earlier in the game, we wouldn't be in the situation where we need a big shot.
Hmmm, maybe the best, but did you expect Ariza to come in and be one of the best shooters in the league. What Ariza is doing is not detrimental to the team, so I think he should keep shooting until his rhythm comes back. He will never been an elite shooter like the guys who can sustain a high percentage over the years, but he can be a shooter on this team and hit a percentage of 3s that most would consider labeling a shooter.
Prigioni been here like what 2 days (?) and he already knows when not to pull the trigger and reset. Give the ball to harden and get ready to shoot if the case arises. Beverley and Ariza just shoot and don't give a ****. Brewer drives when his shots are not falling. What does Ariza do? Just shoot more threes. Attack the basket for god's sake!
fair to criticize his shooting, but he wouldn't be taking those shots if the coaches didn't want him to
Honestly, I know what he does for the team and is great at defense, and I prayed that he had gotten better at basketball, but he hasn't he is the same inconsistent guy who can't dribble, can't shoot well, and is late on his passing. He is the definition of a defensive role player, but for whatever reason he has the green light...it is infuriating to see him chucking when he is so bad at shooting. He already got the contract, just stay within your strengths. DD
I think this is it exactly. Ariza has been taking shots like this all season and he'd likely stop if the coaches told him not to. So far, I'm happy with the overall results the team is getting so I'm gonna keep my mouth shut.
Exactly. Like it or not its the Rockets' offensive philosophy. Beverly and Ariza have to take those shots if they are open.
But that was in the flow of the offense. He got his feet set in the corner and D-Mo kicked it out to him. Earlier in the quarter, Terry waited for Smith to drive in and draw a double team and he also made a wide-open shot. The Rockets are not very good at transition 3's. Harden's ok at them, but most of the team needs to shoot them in rhythm after someone kicks it out to them. If I were McHale, I'd tell them to stop taking those. Unless the player's made 3 in a row and it's a heatcheck.
He's upset that he can't kick his cold streak. He's visibly sighing relief whenever he makes one now. JET is stuck in the cold tundra too. At least Ariza makes it up with defensive awareness. And mad respect to Smoove for not forcing em up.
Ariza and Josh (our 2nd best 3pt shooter LOL) should race to first 200 3's after practice. Will motivate Ariza to get better
Us shooting this many 3's won't translate to playoff success. We don't have the personel to play this way
He literally thinks he's on Kyle Korver or Klay Thompson's level. Absurd mindset, like somebody said, will cost the Rox in the PlayOffs.
I wish he'd work on shooting better shots but he contributes so much on the defensive end and in terms of team chemistry and leadership that his overall impact is overwhelmingly positive. Could it be even better? Sure. I just want to make sure that people appreciate what he has brought to the team. Professionalism, defense, leadership, and toughness.
He did in Washington and shot 40%. Yeah he had some crazy hot shooting nights where he was letting it fly, but for the most part he only took good shots, and rarely tried to create. My guess is the Rockets are again asking him to do too much. I don't think its an Ariza problem as much as it is a Rockets problem when telling him to drive off the dribble, and go crazy shooting early in the shot clock. I don't necessarily think we need a new coach like most people on here because McHale & co. really are just working off of what the front office is giving them as a method for gameplay. Morey & co. are smart people, and they have to notice what we do so obviously. The data might still show that the team is still better off with Ariza doing what he's doing offensively, and Josh Smith still jacking up 3's but I doubt there isn't anything that will signal that adjustments need to be made. If they don't make adjustments then that just means they are stubborn. I guess we will see if Ariza's & Smith's shot selection gets better, or if they continue more of the same, but make lineup adjustments instead. Not sure what else they can do with the lineups though. Starting Jones was a start to add more interior offense & balanced scoring so maybe we are on the right path.
Why must Harden dribbling the ball till 4 seconds left on the shot clock with out even getting the ball to his teammates for better ball movement for an open shoot? Why must Harden always across the half court with 17 or 18 seconds left and let the defense come to double team him much easier? He has done this every game for the whole season but somehow he still able to score so he is forgiven. Do you think McHale just let his players do whatever they wanted and that's why this team is playing without any discipline and with so many TOV and dumb plays?
Because in case you missed it, Harden is probably the single best player in the universe at creating offense off the dribble for himself and teammates. Literally, the single best player in the universe right now. Do you understand that? Circa 1994 I'm sure you were all up in the Prodigy chat rooms with " I don't understand why Hakeem always has to just sit on the ball on the left baseline..."
