That's not the OP meant. Did you read the post?
Fans can criticize all they want. Of course Morey can be wrong. I've never read a post where someone said he's perfect. What's tiresome are those over dramatic people who keeps on saying that he accomplished nothing. That he sits around and does nothing. That he let Dragic go for freaking flexibility. That he just got lucky with player acquisitions. That the team is doomed forever and ever because he is the GM. It's pretty pathetic.

Amen, brother. It's crazy how many "fans" are unhappy this season.

Thanks for everything, Morey, Rockets, everyone in the organization!

I like Morey - like him a lot, don't always agree with him, but think he does a good job.

I think with a better owner or one that did not care about making $$$ Morey would do even a better job.

I've had no major issues with anything Morey has done in his tenure here, and I have complete faith in his direction.

In his inaugural year, our championship hopes took a nosedive when Yao went down. We had the 22 game winning streak but of course we lost in the first round.

The 08-09 season was something special. Morey made the move to make a big 3 with nabbing Artest. He build up a fantastic supporting cast and made the ballsy move of grabbing a lesser known PG by the name of Kyle Lowry. Everything was in place make a deep run until McGrady quit on the team and shut it down, taking everyone by surprise. We made it out of the first round but Yao got hurt in Game 1 of the WCSF (**** you Kobe) and that was all she wrote.

The 09-10 season was a total waste, other than dumping T-Slack for K-Mart.

The 10-11 season was dead in the water as soon as Yao went down for the final time. We began the move towards rebuilding, starting with Morey trading Battier away.

The 11-12 season, we remained competitive. Collected assets, treaded water. Les Alexander didn't want to tank so Morey obliged.

Starting with the 12-13 season, we were fully prepared to tank. We had a young, unproven team. Morey pulled the trigger and got a player who is currently tearing up the league and is a MVP favorite. All of a sudden, Houston now has a franchise player, thanks to our GM. We weren't title contenders yet, and Morey made moves to ensure flexibility in the offseason. We made the playoffs and were knocked out by the defending Western Conference champs.

Thanks to maintaining flexibility, Morey goes out and gets Dwight Howard, at the time the best center in the league, to a deal. We now have another star duo and a championship team. We get knocked out in the first round due to a lack of defensive intensity and identity. Morey has all but rectified that issue this season.

Has he made some mistakes? Yes. But hindsight is 20/20. The T-Will trade sucked. Drafting Marcus Morris was a head-scratcher. Maybe we should have signed Dragic, but at the time he wanted a PO, and Morey could not have known at the time he would've waived it. McHale may not be the greatest Xs and Os coach, but players love playing for him and that has helped us a great deal with drawing in talent and I think Morey recognizes this.

Daryl Morey is the best GM in the league. Barkley can suck it.

Appreciation for what? 1 playoff series win in 7 seasons?

Hiring and then renewing the contract of one of the worst coaches in the league in McHale?

Dude needs to back of the twatter and get back to the gym

I'm a Morey fan, but it is baffling how he values 3's so much, yet doesn't go after any above average shooters. I mean...outside of Harden there is no player on the team I'm really confident in hitting consistent shots.

That's why this whole analytics thing is just crap spewed by Morey, since he does not even use it when acquiring players.

Same f***ing problems with the team as before the break

I would've traded DMo - I don't get why he's considered so untouchable. He's not a rim protector, he's got a good back to the basket game, but at best he'll be Al Jefferson.

If there's anything we've learned from this trade deadline, and the NAB in the past 10 years or so, it's that relationships matter. Players will leave for less money if they are unhappy with their situation, and they will dictate where they want to go. All the assets in the world pales in comparison to great relationships.

That's why I think McHale is underrated and Morey is overrated. McHale is a bad coach, but players want to play for him. Morey is a great GM, but he only put the Rockets in positions to make trades and free agent signings. If Harden and Howard had great relationships with their teams, all the assets and cap space would've been worthless.

That's why the Heat got Dragic for pennies on the dollar and Morey got Pablo Prigioni for two second rounders. Other than the draft, it'll be the respect players have for Harden and McHale that brings talent to this team, not JUST asset collection.

1 playoff win in 7 seasons sucks but my point is he transitioned a team from Yao to Harden better than any other GM. We are now in position to make more playoff noise than before.

    From Yao's last season to now, the Rox win % was .512, .524, .515, .549, .659

Compare this to Spurs before they got Robinson/Duncan
    .427, .341, .378, .256

    or the Warriors before Steph
    .451, .415, .415, .512 .585, .354, .317

    or the Blazers before Lillard
    .424, .402

    or Memphis before Gasol/ZBo
    .268, .268, .293, .488

I don't even have to continue with teams that aren't contenders now. Morey produced a team better than the one he inherited and he did it by giving us a competitive, fan favorite way that didn't require many seasons of pain. I have no doubt that we'll advance in the playoffs in the next couple of years. To be fair, this is only the second year of the James Harden legacy and every team but one will be considered a "failure."

I do agree with you that re-signing McHale was a questionable move.

Thanks Morey for NOT chasing Rondo even though so many people wanted you to, likely the same people bashing you now for not somehow getting Dragic or the like.
