7 footer was haulin' it on the fast breaks last night, running the middle with the ball on a couple of them.
Awesome to see him rebounding more. Our PF rotation is pretty great, considering it was regarded as a huge weakness a season ago.
Has really good handles and runs like a deer for a 7 footer. Really frustrating watching him you can see so much potential and every year he flashes a little bit more. But the consistency is just not there. It seems like by the time he puts it all together he will be in this 30s.
He's only 24 and has shown rapid improvement. I think by this time next season, he'll be even better and he'll stop missing those gimmie shots after making the defender look ridiculous.
I love DMo. But we all need to admit that he needs to have a great game again at some point to justify all of our hype and to justify him being viewed by Morey as untouchable. His last great game was against Denver in December. You can count the 18/11 game against BKN if you want. and I'm going to roll my eyes if anyone pulls the 'Lin fan' Blame McHale angle. He has to have more great games, at this point of the season he's sort of sliding by on success/rep from a couple of months ago
Also, he's still scoring pretty well when he gets properly posted up, it's just not happening very often.
I like that he's hitting the rare three to keep the defense honest. Nice to have a three headed PF monster since Dwight is out.
His USG rate is 6th on the current Rockets. Maybe he got more touches, he would put his elite PPP to use and put up better numbers.
Some of that is on him he passes out way too much. Part of bein a great player and putting up great names is agression. Does he have that or not?
He has shown a lot of improvement this season but I am still not sold on his toughness (mental and physical) and rebounding. This playoffs will tell us a lot about Donatas and what kind of player he will shape up to. He might end up being one of the big reasons we make it to the second round or not.
A lot of the time he passes out is because he's trying to re-post and they don't go back to him. We don't have a very smart team when it comes to getting the ball down low. They'll pass to Dorsey or Jones who aren't good down there in a heartbeat but then leave DMo hanging when he's got his guy pinned under the rim. It's just weird.
Dmo at this point is a support, or role player, an efficient one, but not a guy that is going to be featured as a star player. He might get there, but he might always be an uber efficient role player too - in order for him to take the next step, he will need to be a lot more selfish, and I am not sure he has that in him. Then again, I did not think Yao had it in him either, but he finally did...so, here is to hoping DMo starts demanding those touches. DD
Maybe those are currently the best two bigs but actually D-Mo and Jones are really the future. McHale HAS TO get those guys to build chemistry and get better defensively together. After this year Smith will most likely not be retained, and is questionable how much the Rockets will be able to consistently rely on Dwight throughout a normal regular season. Both guys are locked up until the end of next season and should be retained afterwards. Let's get those two guys on the court as much as possible and have them build chemistry.
I think he needs to be a lot more consistent, if he puts up 15 points every night, then you can start tallking about star potential.
