http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0715/1580954.html Free-agent forward Kenny Thomas is staying put in Philadelphia. The 76ers accomplished their main mission in free agency by keeping Thomas, who will sign a long-term contract with the team, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday. The deal is believed to be for seven years and $50 million. Sixers president and general manager Billy King will make the announcement Wednesday, the first day teams can begin signing free agents. The 6-foot-7, 245-pound Thomas helped give the Sixers a much-needed inside presence after being acquired from Houston in a three-way deal. The four-year pro played 46 games in the regular season for Philadelphia, averaging 10.2 points and 8.5 rebounds. He also averaged 10.6 points and a team-best 9.3 rebounds in the playoffs. The Sixers will now go shopping for a center. They are one of many teams who have had discussions with unrestricted free agent Elden Campbell, a 13-year veteran who was traded to Seattle from New Orleans last season. Philadelphia could also bring back Derrick Coleman, an unrestricted free-agent power forward who helped the 76ers last season by playing out of position and starting at center.
A little over priced, but you have to remember it is 7 years with 12.5 increases--thus probably only starting at like 5.something per year--a little over the MCE. I think 5 years starting at that level would have been about right--but good for KT.
i'm happy for KT. he definitely deserves it. i guess he can be happy now that he got traded from the rox.
