How long can people survive without food? Without water is a few days or a week, how about food?

    That intrigues me. Congratulations.
Also, maybe a little help on what you mean by healthy and unhealthy fasts. By which I mean, what'd you do during and after your fast?

by unhealthy i just mean doing too much physically during the fast that could lead to exhaustion. also going straight from a very calorie-dense, processed diet straight to a water fast or not breaking slowly enough. you have to know your body - if it's beyond simple unpleasant hunger pains, maybe you shouldn't be fasting at the time. moes and i did it together back then, what he said about the orange juice was spot-on. we drank diluted orange juice the first day and it was the most delicious thing on earth. breaking the fast slowly will also help you from gorging on like the 2nd day off the fast...once your appetite is re-awakened it can be REALLY tough to not want to go buy some fast food or other junk.

bottom line...relax during the fast, don't expend energy. be mindful after the fast and eaaaase your way into healthy eating...i know i said it already, but your appetite after breaking the fast will be INTENSE. don't immediately start undoing all the progress you've made.

Excellent freaking post. How did ya'll prepare? I went straight from a high calorie processed diet to fasting. I'm willing to amend my plan if it makes sense to me.

Didn't read it but professional nutritionists definitely wouldn't like the idea of an all water fast. I wouldn't call it a scam though, it's not like water costs anything.

I'm so thankful I have the ability and self-discipline to eat normal amounts of food, participate in regular exercise, and abstain from quackery.

Although the article is mainly referring to juices, the overall point is the body doesn't need help "detoxing" it does that just fine on it's own. Most people experience results simply cause they go from eating a S.A.D (Standard american diet) to actually eating, or in this case drinking, things they should. The detox isn't doing anything special.

I'm glad you have found one that wants to be around for good through everything.

And let me get this straight, are you saying y'all are going to make the baby this month? Because if so, TMI. Funny guy.

We have been in Africa for about 4 months now. We won't be coming back Stateside (Lord willing) till early 2017. Never a dull day here. For example, a Belgian guy who has been living here for a long time as a college professor has been slowly moving his things back to Belgium had a lacquered human skull that is used in classes in his luggage this last trip back and in the airport he was arrested for having it and charged with WIZARDRY! The sentence if convicted for WIZARDRY is 30 years! He spent a few days in jail until he was able to prove the skull wasn't for WIZARDING purposes. Yeah, true story.

Check out my link from above. There isn't any science behind them at all.

I've read about it, but not a lot...i just do a 24 hr fast from sat night to sun night. At the very least, i think there's a least something to letting your body digest everything completely, before stuffing it with more food. Usually we're eating our third meal before the first is even fully digested.

Although, for your knee and back you'll have to look into your mechanics.

I would also advise you to smoke at least 4-5 joints a day to keep your mood elevated.

Did the master cleanse twice. Definitely works/gives your body a nice reset, but it's like any other diet...it's not going to be sustainable results if u go back to putting garbage in ur body.
