Whoa, jshabang. Eloquence and athleticism are not mutually exclusive terms, albeit listening to some of the jocks one would get that impression. At the end of the season, throw up your hands in desperation if Bostjan has a bad year. Otherwise, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
So if he stinks it up all summer, ignore it?????? Just let him suck....................Right???????? He miraculously get it goin during the season, and become a superstar.
I agree with MacBeth first post and I think I pointed that out way back when. I don't remember now, but I think his shooting stats back in Italy didn't resemble those of lights out shooter.
Yeah, after a year on the bench and not given the chance to play, you'd give up on him?! WTF?! I'm glad you have no ties to the Rox's scouting department!
Hey, works for me. I'd rather see Nachbar catch fire in time for the playoffs than not. I'm not chiding you, jshabang, just trying to get you to take a positive slant rather than a negative. Sometimes you just have to sit back and ....believe.
I feel you, I really do......but I'm all believed out I've been believing for 4 or 5 years now Playoffs or Bust... No, but really....We really need this guy this season, thats why I'm so critical, we don't have the luxury of another year or two for him to develope.....hey I hope the cat is gonna get it together Trust me, I'm doin alot of praying Try to watch a summer game or 2 on boki and see if you get a different slant than me, please
Ahhhh! That is one of our hitches in the gitalong. I do not place much credence in these summer games. I will start paying attention when they start practicing and playing the exhibition games. Once the summer turns to fall, I return to Spring through the winter.
I hear you....... but they mean something, or JVG and his staff wouldn.t have him there playin Steve, Cat, Dynasty, Or even Eddie is not there......why????? Boki should be putting numbers up, plain and simple
2 Summer games are not enough to write off Boki, but at the same time it is a bad beginning for him. Also, I think alot of people took Boki's shooting prowess and ran with it. Rudy T said Boki was a very good finisher, ran the floor well, had good handles for his size and could hit the outside shot. I don't think Rudy T ever said he was a sharp shooter of legendary proportions. Rudy T would have played Boki last year if he felt he would help us win.
You guys have more reasons for Boki not playing well than a crackhead in rehab. Last year he had groin injury, summer league he is nervous against guys who will be working at ups. Is it because he is white you guys want him to become a star. I reported his performance from game one of the summer league and you guys were pissed at me because I said he was a bust, now as the summer goes along people are finally admitting that he may be a bust. I would love for Boki to be the next Peja but that just might not happen.
you think boki can be odom? I dont understand why just becuz boki can dribble some unguarded without tripping over himself all of a sudden he is a odom. .Lets put it this way, odom is more productive in a real live nba game more than boki is in a summer league against my grandma err ...walton.
You know what it is with shooters these days....They all wanna be like Mike. I fremember last year, Glen Rice went on and on about how he's not just a shooter, and he does MUCH more than be a good shooter. He shot horrible the whole time. Then he injures his shoulder, and realizes just how old he is, and surprise surprise, he concentrates on his shooting and hits close to 50% after his injury while the Rockets come within a breath of a playoff spot. What I'm trying to say is that, these guys need to realize that their best quality is shooting. Boki CAN play D, and he CAN get to the basket, however, I'd rather have james Posey do that. This team lacks shooting, and that's what we want. I guess I'm also indirectly saying that these "shooters" subconsciously miss some shots so that they don't get labelled as shooters, and their teammates give them shots from closer range. Just me personal observation. I think it's also interesting how we have less shooters now that we can see more players like Vince Carter, Steve Francis, and Jason Richardson.
I hate to admit this but you have a point. This is a 2nd year guy who was a first round pick who was getting absolutely schooled by a bunch of rookies. What's dismaying here that this ain't close to being the NBA. The summer league is chocked full of rookies, CBA and NBADL wannbe types and they STILL managed to look better than Boki. This was a guy I had hoped would step forward and make an impact with more playing time. Now I see that he, too, is yet another project player on this team. By my count that makes 3 on this team: Badianne, Griffin & Boki. It doesn't matter how long or hard JVG works these guys - the bottom line is that the overall talent level on this team is not very high when compared to the other teams in the West and that's something that JVG will not be able to disguise. Like they say: "You can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t".
That's all well and good but with the new rule changes, the NBA game has placed a premium on shooting. It's awfullly hard to do SportCenter highlight drives to the hoop that finish with rim-rocking dunks when there's 3 & 4 guys packed into a zone under the basket. That's the biggest weakness of this team: they can't shoot. Until they start consistently shooting better than 20%-30% from the field, they will not take the next step toward being a viable contender.
results in summer league mean nothing. the teaching he's getting is what's value. he's basically a rookie himself because he didnt get off the bench at all last year. I'm sure he's still getting adjusted to the "American" game. How many times have players looked great in summer league but suck in the regular season, Kwame Brown is a very good adjustment. What's important is the growth he shows from now till the start of the season.
If it's because he's white, then explain all the hype with Badiane, and the comparisons to Hakeem and Amare Stoudamire! It's because he's a Rocket, not because he's white. They compare him to Peja because he's white, but they hype him cuz he's a Rcoket.
It is not just this sumer league that I am forming this opinion from. If he were at least half decent: 1) They would not have brought in Posey last season and re-signed him this year. 2) If he were as good a shooter as his great display he put on last year (for the coaches), he would have played more last season for the simple reason the team was in great need of an outside shooter. 3) There were several occasions the team was down by a few points at the end and they needed a shot to be knocked down, and Boki was never called upon. Even if he did not play many minutes, teams tend to bring in the best shooters at the end to knock down those shots and he wsa NEVER on the floor. 4) Realistically, if a guy is playing in these summer leagues and he does not stand out or dominate, he stands NO CHANCE of making an 8 man rotation in the NBA. The guys on these teams are NOT NBA calliber players, so only imagine when instead of him covering or being covered by Luke Walton he is facing the likes of Rashard, Mashburn, Marion, Stojakovic etc. He is not very good. Could he get better? Sure. Is he a threat to become the next Stojakovic? Hell no. Just look at him when he runs the floor, or does anything on the court. He is not very fluid. I hope the best, but to me he is still a wasted pick and when all is said and done, I think this move will be on the same list as Cato, Moochie, Taylor, Drew, Maloney and so on. Notice some one missing on that list? Griffin. I actually think with good coaching that guy has potential to do something, but it is a 2 way street and he is going to have to put forth some effort.
