Part of the issue that I'm sure Gilligan expected to have is that he's just coming off one of the most gut-wrenching/emotional seasons of any series ever (final season of breaking bad), where every single episode had people gasping for air. People forget that the earlier seasons of BB were very much like what BCS is starting out with... setting the stage, introducing new characters, having some random flash-backs (that will be called upon in later episodes), and in this series... possibly having an occasional flash-forward just for kicks. So far, he's really done a great job at setting the scene... and more importantly, re-introducing the character in a way that you'll forget that he was a secondary character to Walter's meth empire, as he will be required to carry the show (much like Frasier was re-introduced in a "leading" way).
Hate having to wait one week for the next episode, usually binch these kind of shows. It's killin me to wait that long, urgh.
Really enjoying Better Call Saul more than I thought I would. I think Saul can carry this show. People do forget that the first couple of seasons of Breaking Bad were more black noir comedy than drama. It wasn't until Gus was introduced in Season 3 that it became more of a dark drug drama. BCS is pulling off comedy better than you'd expect out of it, and I'm enjoying Saul's antics. As for the Kettlemans, I had a feeling that they staged their kidnapping when Nacho was in the interrogation room. But Mike saying they never left town and Saul finding them camping was wonderful. You'd think the Kettlemans might contemplate murdering Saul now, but we all know he's alive and well. I hope to see more Mike in the future, and I'm curious to how they'll integrate him more into the show.
I enjoy a good binge-watch, but I've found that my enjoyment and overall experience with the show is much better watching it unfold week by week. I didn't get into BB until Season 4 and I could tell it was definitely more fun tuning in every Sunday.
Alright I'm ready to solve the puzzle. No vowels needed. Series ends with Saul doing something to ensure Mike's granddaughter gets her inheritance and redeeming himself as a good person.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/02/17/better-call-saul-breaks-cable-records One week after breaking cable TV series premiere ratings among the 18-49 demo, AMC's Better Call Saul's Live+3 results (people who watched it live plus those who watched it DVR'd within three days) has the show breaking cable records for the 18-49 demo and the 25-54 demo. The 3-day digital time shifting viewing numbers for the premiere episode, "Uno," show a total of 9.8 million viewers. That's a 40% DVR jump in 18-49s and 43% DVR jump in 25-54s. The series’ two-night premiere on February 8th and 9th delivered a combined total of 15.6 million viewers. These results beat out numbers for The Walking Dead's 2010 debut and Falling Skies' 2011 premiere.
I think that when you have to wait a week for the next show (or months for the next season) that it builds anticipation in the viewer and it makes it more satisfying when you finally get to see that next episode.
They still might contemplate it, but just not follow through. However, now that Saul has seen the money, he is a witness. However, I think Saul will convince them to hire him as their lawyer so they have the attorney-client privilege to hide behind. Boom, Saul gets his big client and starts to make a name for himself.
But, they already hired Hamlin, so can't hire Saul until they fire Hamlin. Lawyers make client sign contracts to prevent that. But, Hamlin can hire Saul, and I think there's a ton of foreshadowing with his brother for something like that to happen. Plus, they'll need to launder it. Maybe Hamlin/Saul will have them become silent backer for a Chicken franchise or something wholesome like that.
Better Call Saul is a good show. It currently lacks the complexity of Breaking Bad but it's very, very entertaining. Easily top 5 on TV right now. How awesome would it be if Vince Gilligan created a post Breaking Bad TV series after Better Call Saul wraps up? Maybe we'll see Jesse again, maybe Walter White will make hologram appearances like a Jedi.
Isn't Better Call Saul supposed to be the post-Breaking Bad show? I read somewhere that this was supposed to be a prequel and sequel to BB. I wouldn't want a Jesse Pinkman spinoff in all honesty. His story in BB was exhausting, and to stretch it out even more would be a little extreme after everything he's been through. I think he wants to be at peace. Then again, Vince Gilligan is simply better than me.
Well it is quite literally is the exact same crew. Writers/directors, the editor, composer, DP (or camera guy). And seeing as they've all sharpened the same sword with BB, it's safe to say that "FEEL" should be the same if not stronger after BCS is said and done. I love it.
This show is way better then it has any right to be. Easily my new favorite show. And its also the perfect stop gap before Game of Thrones returns
