small market team, to save dollars? gosh, it's 1am here in Asia. Looks like I'm gonna stay awake to follow how it goes down.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Ok...last tweet. I'm calling no one else. Hope something good happens. Like a 3X! They have zero bench scoring. They're relying on the old corpses of Charlie V to do their scoring off the bench That should tell you all. Also what did Amel do? Why is Doc so butthurt?
love you doc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #respect a cluchfans legend y'all doubting newcomer twerps
I just have to say, this thread is effen fantastic today. I hope the people who wanted this thread to die are enjoying the crow.
He said the Dragic to Houston deal wasn't happening awhile back. He also said he doesn't think Dragic gets traded. He isn't just bsing. He is also the only one saying Lawson to Houston is a major possibility and saying it is going to take a ton to get him.
That makes no sense at all unless Martin is being bought out. His contract would limit the Mavs' ability to re-sign Monta, Tyson, Rondo, and Amar'e in the offseason.
Either we are doing a 3-way trade or we are doing 3 different trades (Lawson, Hensen, K-Mart, Knight) etc
Not exactly. He got information that confirmed we were after Martin, which is all Doc said. He then got new information that said Martin doesnt want to come here. That doesnt mean we weren't after Martin in the first place.
Players become untouchable when they are the catalyst for winning games. K-Mart wasn't so he was available via trade but Morey wasn't actively seeking to get rid of him, he was seeking an upgrade and likely knew from other teams that they liked Martin's skill sets. The narrative being driven is that Morey is a heartless swapper of players. When he makes trades, he doesn't send players to hopeless situations and they usually come out making more money elsewhere than if they stayed Rockets. Just because the super wonder twin backcourt of 9th seed supremacy doesn't want to play for the Rockets doesn't mean this applies to all pl;ayers we might seek in free agency or via trade.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>“<a href="https://twitter.com/TheRealG_Newt">@TheRealG_Newt</a>: <a href="https://twitter.com/Thedocrocket">@Thedocrocket</a> Cyberx said KMart doesn't want to come to HOU” That sounds legit. I wouldn't if I were KMart. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/cut?src=hash">#cut</a></p>— Doc Rocket (@Thedocrocket) <a href="https://twitter.com/Thedocrocket/status/568096472148783104">February 18, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> And I hope Morey doesn't care what K.Martin wants. If Martin wins a ring here, he will thank Morey for the rest of his life.
But the Rockets are less likely to offer the sort of package it would take to get him, considering they are not among his preferred teams. The Rockets were seeking a deal to reacquire Dragic not only to boost their postseason chances but to get the Bird rights that would greatly improve their position to sign his as a free agent after the season. But with Dragic listing the Knicks, Lakers and Heat among teams he would target, the Rockets would be considerably more reluctant to gamble on him. This year, the Rockets are in "win now" mode and were very interested in trading for Dragic, even with no guarantee they could keep him. But unlike when they pursued trades for Anthony and Howard, they are not lacking in star power and therefore not as open to dealing for a player they might not retain. The Rockets could still be willing to deal away the first-round pick they acquired for New Orleans in the trade of Omer Asik. But they would be hard-pressed to give up a rotation player, particularly one signed beyond the season, if it means having Dragic just for the short term. ... While the Rockets have been active in trade talks, they have not stepped up efforts specifically aiming to add a center since Howard went out with edema on his right knee. But despite potential barriers to a deal, the Rockets come armed with a variety of potential trade pieces. They can offer combinations from among the Pelicans' first-round pick, a Knicks second-round pick, a player among their glut of power forwards, expiring contracts (Kostas Papanikolaou, Jason Terry), and the draft rights to Sergio Llull.
