Kevin Durant the fake nice guy is exposed again. Too bad he is a "fake tough guy" too.

In today's world, the media can bury you no matter if you are a good guy or bad guy by nature. Even if you are telling the truth. And in sports they nearly have the power of judge and jury. See the entire last year. Right or wrong. It's best to keep them on your side, play the game, and use them to your advantage as long as you can. The mistake I think is that Durant will fall for this truth thing, just tell like it is thing, because people like it, they want to hear it, and you feel good about it, and it feels right, but the media will eventually get bored with it and tear away when they get the chance. It's really best I think to stick to playing the game and trying to control the press. Get them on your side. Feed them what you want and the mass of them will report what you feed them. It's a false image. No doubt. But history proves this is the way to go. Do you want to be Nixon or Kennedy. Not to say they need to be a choir boy. Or Perfect. But they do need to control the media, because they can end your career over nothing. Yes. You will still have your family and life when it's all said and done, but if you want a long career, I think in life it's best to keep some things to yourself and to win the crowd. So it's choice. There are a handful who survive it. Barkley being one. Ali another. But on the average playing nice and being fake will get him further along.

I hear you, man. But let's face it. We diehards are a minority among fans. Most casual fans just gobble up whatever juicy stuff the media feed them. And the media is driven by the mass--hence they are called mass media.

While other people grow older, Durant keeps getting younger.

There's no reason to bring Billy Jack into this conversation, I hope.

But seriously, maybe if some of you would take 2 minutes to see the context of his remarks, it would answer some of your "why, oh why" questions.

The same Durant who can give a million dollars for tornado relief is consistently also the one who will stand up for his coach and his team when questioning repeatedly tried to drive them apart. At least, to me it was totally consistent and even appropriate to the situation. (shrugs)

Durant didnt say that the media is garbage in an absolute sense.

He mentioned that the media can have its own agendas and flip flopping positions on players, which makes it unfavorable for players to want to cooperate with. The media can be both good at what it does, and unfavorable to interviewees and viewers

If you're saying you agree with Durant - And then adding your OWN view that the media is garbage and thats an example why, thats plenty alright

I read or heard somewhere that KD went into this tirade because of some speculation over Scott Brooks' future.

KD tries too hard to be tough and we don't butcher him because he's a skinny noodle. If Lebron or Harden used this language the internet would explode. Let's not pretend KD has it harder than any other superstar . . And btw, his team will probably miss the playoffs this year. A former teammate has overtaken him as a better basketball player. Should keep his head down and work on his game.

When Kevin Durant teared up at the podium during his MVP speech last year while espousing love for his mother, it was a defining moment for the NBA. The line "You the real MVP," elicited such a reaction that it's become a staple of certain online communities, an in-joke between hoops fans trying to show a little love to each other.

One person who isn't a fan of the meme, however, is the man who created it. As part of a wide-ranging, emotional interview with GQ set to be published next month, Durant explained how much he hates the way the Internet has used his signature line, which he says came from true sentiments but has been warped into a joke.

"I was like, man, that was a real emotional moment for me, and you making a joke about it! Like: Damn. Y'all don't really believe in ****. You don't have no morals or nothing. You don't care about nothing but just making fun.

"I was serious as hell saying that, you know what I'm saying?"

There's been a lot of attention given to Durant lately after his outburst toward the media -- "You guys really don't know s***," -- at NBA All-Star Weekend, particularly to his personality. It's clear the 26-year-old is growing more comfortable speaking his mind publicly as he gets older, and that's led to situations like the one we saw in New York City.

It's also led to interviews like the one at GQ, which reveals an emotional, vulnerable Durant who sounds an awful lot like he could use a hug. Quotes like the one below show a degree of candidness that you rarely see from seemingly superhuman star athletes.

"I go to sleep at night, like, 'Am I gonna be alone forever?'" A whole ocean of regret. His life too hectic, and too surrounded by money, to trust, let alone love, the next person who comes through that door."

The whole piece certainly isn't that negative, but it's a pretty forthright interview from someone who didn't always speak his mind like this in the past. You'll definitely want to head over to GQ.com to check out the full story before it hits newsstands next month, as it's loaded with intriguing bits on an athlete we clearly didn't know much about. Let's just hope Durant comes around on the meme eventually, too.

Pretty much aligns with the conversation the former collegiate basketball player and I had not so long ago. Durant takes a lot of things to heart and that could play in where he ends up in 2016. He wants to be in an insulated and loving environment. He used to have that when Harden was still in OKC because him, James, and Russ banded together. Now, Russ is continually doing his own thing and Durant don't have that "brother" on the team anymore.

Uhhh. KD is really starting to act like a little b****.
You're rich and famous, that comes with a consequence of media attention and ridicule.

    What a whiner.
And the more he lashes out, the more hate he will get.
Just like LeBron and his whole "I'm taking notes" saga.

The situations could not be more different.

    1. Call enormous attention to yourself in "the decision", get blowback, then "take names."

    2. Given your first enormous honor, you call attention to all your teammates, and then your own mother. Media and internet mock this and you mention, in a requested interview, that people are pretty dark and pathetic if they make fun of that very genuine moment.

You can say he's a baby, but to me, it's much more sympathetic. He doesn't want everyone to bow to him (like some athletes do). He just wants a shred of a normal life and to have the option to be real with people. (I know, it's a stupid, childish fantasy, but I can at least sympathize.)
