The last game I saw Bev drive the lane to only get stopped, do a jump, and almost pass it to the other team. He learned that from LIN.

[rQUOTEr]By Mark Medina, LA Daily News POSTED: 02/16/15, 12:32 PM PST | UPDATED: 16 SECS AGO 15 COMMENTS Outside the locker room, Lakers coach Byron Scott talked with authority surrounding one of the team’s greatest riddles. What is going on with Jeremy Lin? “It’s been so up and down with the consistency,” Scott said, shaking his head. “Every single night, you’re getting something different.” ... [/rQUOTEr]
^ Fair or not , I've never seen a player publicly criticized by coaches as much as Jeremy Lin. Also thought it was ironic how Swaggy P criticized Lin for not passing enough, when as a guard Nick Young averages 1.0 assist per game. Thats pretty embarrassing. Also saw a ridiculous stat that in the near 300 minutes Young/Kobe shared the court, Swaggy had 0 assists to Kobe.
IMO, Jeremy Lin brings it upon himself with his passive aggressive comments on twitter. I dont think his coaches appreciate that. The other thing is that his coaches keep getting asked about him after every game as if he is some star player. He has played like a scrub this year. I doubt Scott gets asked about Sacre and his struggles after every game. It has to be annoying. Why is a coach being asked what they can do to improve a scrub's performance ?!?! lol At some point you have to come out and just say it, 'The guy sucks! What do you want me to do about it??" Nick young is a terrible ball hog in the mold of JR Smith and Jamal Crawford. However, his job is to shoot, not pass. They are brought off the bench to put points on the board. No one looks at Nick Young, Jamal Crawford, and JR Smith stat line and looks at how many assists they have. Jeremy Lin, OTOH, is a Point Guard! His job is to set offense up and run plays. Boozer has talked about this. Kobe has talked about this. Scott has talked about this. Its pretty bad when Nick Young of all the people has to talk about this. I think at this point the question that has to be asked is....Does Jeremy Lin have the skills to play the PG position? My answer is NO because he lacks the ball handling skills and the instincts of a PG and......he is wildly inconsistent. Prove me wrong on my three takes and I will change my stance.
Lots of players have been. Heck, D'Antoni shat all over lots of his players, although he seems to like Lin.
you don't understand the job of the point guard. it is to pass the ball (not in the air to the other team)
From the same article: “He’s got so much talent, so much speed and so much quickness,” Lakers veteran reserve forward Carlos Boozer said of Lin. “But he plays the point guard position so he got me in his ear. He’s got Kobe in his ear. He’s got ‘Swaggy’ in his ear. He’s got Byron in his ear. He’s got a lot to handle. But he’s up to the challenge.”
Other than being quite prone to turnovers I don't see how you can describe him as a ballstopper in the way you are insinuating (demanding the ball on crappy teams and getting inflated individual stats). In fact I think he should have played more aggressive and demanded more picks from his bigmen. Also I don't think you can describe this season of his as doing well on a crappy team. I think you are just joining the poop parade on the guy here on this forum thread with a mindless post of your own.
Oh nobody denies he has talent, they just question his consistency and decision making Derek Fisher had Kobe and Shaq in his ear for years
The only thing holding Lin back from being a decent player in the league is that nut in in between his ears. If there was ever a player that looked more robotic in the league, from the handles to the decision making, it would be you know who. A lot of people say he's mentally weak and while it's applicable, I would argue that he's just a less instinctive player rather than folding under the pressure. A good player goes into the game, knowing that he's going to get his. Jeremy Lin goes into a game thinking about why God is making him dribble the ball down the court. Guess whose getting paid at the end of the year?
You are absolutely right in the stance that Lin is not a traditional PG. He doesn't have situational awareness, he can't read tempo, he doesn't understand when to be aggressive or when to play the clock. You are absolutely right that he is a terrible "traditional PG." What makes him effective, ironically, is when he doesn't have to think. When he just plays aggressive, fast-flowing, transitional basketball. That makes him fit the mold of a scoring-PG, a combo-guard, or better yet, a SG in a PG's frame. His handles, while suspect, doesn't allow him to probe the offense to set up plays. His ability to play PnR, while above-average, only lets him set up plays for the two-man game. While he has an almost elite ability to get to the rim, his inability to maintain his handles (resorting to jump-stop passes), inability to change gears (explaining his straight-line drives), makes him a limited player in his role as a facilitator. I will argue that, if we were to simply define his role, make him a Nick Young, JR Smith, Jamal Crawford, player where he's simply expected to score, and have that ingrained in that stupid noggin of his, that he'd be in the most effective position to make the best use of his talents. Where the Rockets tried to put him in and yet he still managed to defy expectations...
Except that D'Antoni had Lin sitting at the end of the bench. Lin was days away from getting cut before Linsanity started breaking out. Then all of a sudden D'Antoni is all over it with "I'm riding him like freakin' Secretariat!" Truth is D'Antoni didn't see anything special in Lin until it was happening. Nothing to see before Linsanity broke out and nothing to see now.
I think the message goes from one ear out to the other for Jeremy Lin that's probably why he's not starting
I still believe he's an excellent rotation player in this league. Unfortunately he only fits one type of offense in one particular role. If he were the starting PG for the Utah Jazz back when Jerry Sloan was coach, he would be putting up Linsanity numbers regularly IMO. I think he would be smart to try to join the Spurs. That team might suit him very much, and he could easily be a strong backup PG for them as long as he follows Parker's lead.
I think Pop would likely murder him after a few games of his "jump in the air without a clue as to what I'm going to do next" patented move.
