Hey, i already apologized. Sort of. Hard day at work and i didn't take Hakeem's demands very well either. Guess i was just looking to dump it all on someone and it happened to be Mango. My apologies. But i DO agree he is boring as hell. Mango, if you accept my apology, a would be a nice answer. Think you can do that? It won't ruin your reputation, hehehe. ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream, this dream is over... You would then be screwing with the essence of the man that is Mango... Picture if you will BobFinn* with a legitimate post more than 3 lines. SmeggySmeg typing without an old man's grumpy attitude heypartner not being an ass at least once a month (hmm...) DrOfDunk actually having a purpose on this board roydelton without his sheep rimbaud without his CriscoKidd Jeff eating a Big Mac Will with the writing skills of LHutz LHutz without his wife, that ho TheCat without his Collier or his Mo Tay aelliott with a post that just made you laugh hysterically for hours and still involved the words "BYC" and "collective bargaining agreement" You can't... therefore, you cannot take the serious out of the Mango without taking the Mango out of the BBS... No Brian Grant, no trade. He is the only player I would like trading Hakeem for. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." [This message has been edited by ZRB (edited January 20, 2001).]
If we have to trade or waive Hakeem, another possibility is Dallas. I know it is verbotten to trade within your division, especially during a playoff run, and such a trade would resurrect the ghosts of McMullen/the Nolan Ryan debace. However, Dallas is basically a lock for the playoffs, anyway, and keeping Hakeem in Texas might be a nice gesture. Here is what we possibly get in return: Shawn Bradley $8.37 m. - free agent this summer Christian Lattner $6.63 m. - free agent this summer Etan Thomas $1.39 m. Or perhaps Dallas would throw in a pick if they don't give up Thomas. This is better than waiving Hakeem outright. I know Cuban acts like he is enamored with Bradley, but he would gladly dump him for Hakeem, because he wants to win now. By the way - since Hakeem was signed before the new CBA, doesn't he count against the cap the average of his salary over its term? That is, $55 million divided by 5 years = $11 million cap value. If so, we could perhaps dump Walt, Rogers or Cato's salary in a trade to Dallas, and free up more cap space for this summer. Of course, the cap value of Bradley would be slightly lower, too. ------------------
Thanos, Dr of Dunk paints a fairly accurate description of my personality here. You have progressed since we first met in this thread six months ago. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum3/HTML/007742.html You want me to do this ? Sorry, I am not known for using that graphic. Ceballos' defensive skills hav been labled as the worst in the NBA. Also Cuban isn't going to trade Bradley or any of the Mavericks anytime soon, he doesn't want to mess with the chemistry of the team. I could see the Rocks waiving Dream and him signing with the Lakers, Blazers, or Miami. Not including Miami I don't see how him signing with the Lakers or Blazers improves the Rockets any. Afterall this is what the whole controversy is over anyways -- making the rockets better. ------------------

houston trades: Hakeem Olajuwon $16,700,000 to miami TOTAL: $16,700,000 miami trades: Anthony Mason $5,553,900 to houston miami trades: Dan Majerle $4,050,000 to houston miami trades: Cedric Ceballos $3,937,500 to houston miami trades: A.C. Green $2,250,000 to houston TOTAL: $15,791,400 TRADE ACCEPTED Would ya'll do this deal? Assuming Cato is on and off the IR the rest of the year, and Collier/Langhi can go back to the IR, this trade could really improve our depth. All of these guys are in the last years of their contracts so no commitment. As stated earlier, Mase can rebound and hustle and could start at the 3. Majerle could teach Mobley and Francis some real defense, and AC Green could preach to them to cut down on sex. Ceballos and Walt can battle it out for minutes. Should this deal go down it would leave us poised for a playoff run with this linuep: Cato/Los Taylor/KT/Green Mason/Ceballos/Walt Anderson/Mobley Francis/Norris IR: Collier,Langhi,Majerle ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
You sure play a dirty game, Mango. That's a low blow in my book. Mistakes will eventually happen, as english isn't my first language, and i don't live in the states (which is actually nice, seeing as you guys will have to deal with Bush for awhile - best of luck... sigh) Nice to know you have been monitoring my progress Mango. Even nicer to know it's appreciated. Have a nice weekend too my friend. Now, enough with this kindness stuff or my girlfriend will get jealous... ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream, this dream is over... To take this thread even further off topic, what nationality are you? And what is your first language? I ask because I never would have guessed that English wasn't your first language. You type it well. ------------------ "No Brain Grant, no trade." -- Typos are a b**** as ZRB is holding Rocket trades hostage while he seeks a brain. Thanos, I didn't know you lived out of town. Where are you at? Somebody might have to post a world map with pinpoints showing the locations of the BBS membership. Most of the people who posted in that thread are hanging around and posting still (Achebe, Dr of Dunk etc). I have been blasted far worse and never got an apology. Expecting to get blasted comes with the territory. Heypartner recently did a roll call of members who have not posted recently, so the ranks will always have to be replenished with quality posters. So Thanos, stick around because you are doing fine. Mango ------------------ Lets get the Mo Go working! Test Your NBA Trade Ideas 1. Put new topics in the proper forum. In response to Baqui99s trade idea... I would really consider doing that trade, although we would likely waive AC Green. THe only reason I would accept this is b/c Mason is a free agent after the season, allowin us to make our run at Webber or drafting a rookie big man. In order for us to best utilize masons skills he would have to play down low, so we'd have to work something out w/ him and Mo. But I would still rather just let Hakeem play out the season and get his cap space next summer. ------------------ "Steve is good. Steve is real good." -- Cleveland's rookie point guard Andre Miller on Rocket rookie point Steve Francis
Out of town Mango? WAY out of town is more like it. I live in Brazil, Porto Alegre, to be more exact. It's as south as Brazil gets, quite close to Argentina. My first language is Portuguese. I would advise you guys to stay away from it, though. Swear i didn't take this long to answer because i was making something up. Besides, Clutch can check my IP, I guess. I already posted this once, in that infamous Bob Rainey trade tread. The one were i kept calling him Mika Hakinnen because he posted from Finland, of all places. I was busy watching Iron Maiden at Rock in Rio on TV. Incredible show. They are back, with a VEANGENCE, if there's anyone around here that used to or likes the band cares to know. Dr of Dunk, glad to know my english is good enough to fool people into thinking i'm american. That might be useful in the near future. Even though looking at the quality of some of the posts around here maybe that's not exaclty a compliment. We're doing fine against the Lakers so far, huh? You don't know how much i envy you guys... I only get TNT/TBS on cable here. Well... time to sleep. It's 3:31 AM over here. Shaq with 41 so far. Geez. ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Thanos, oi, tudo bem? Entao, 'ce fala portugues? Faz muito tempo que nao escrevo este idioma. Como e que 'ce vai tao maloco pelos Rockets? (peço desculpas pela falta dos acentos, 'ta?) Thanos o brasileiro. Porra, que legal! ------------------
Puta que pariu! Nao acredito nisso! Nem esquenta com os acentos cara. Por isso mesmo que eu disse pra eles ficarem longe desse idioma dos infernos... hehehe! We now resume our regular posting after this short intermission. After all, i don´t feel like alienating our portuguese-impaired friends. I just had this great idea... suppose Riley isn´t very pleased about the way his current team is jelling, and decides that he wants to play in the Webber sweepstakes next year. That he wants Webber on the team next year when Zo (arguably) returns. One way of accomplishing that would be trading Grant for Dream. Yes, i know it´s almost impossible, but i just thought it was an intersting scenario if Riley sees that he CAN´T win it this year with the team he currently has. Just food for thought. Would guys do that deal? I would do it blindfolded. Grant is the perfect 4 for us. ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream, this dream is over... Apologizes in advance for taking this thread even farther off-topic for a moment Oh My God!!! I thought I was the ONLY Maiden fan on this board.. I am just positively green with envy Thanos. You got to Watch Rock in Rio on TV??? Ya should have gone in person..I saw them with Queensryche and Halford late last year..What an AWESOME show....IM's new album positively ROCKS!! Up The Irons! ------------------ no sig here
Rockets2k: The show was recorded for a Live DVD. It should be out in the next months. I would advise you to buy it. There were 250.000 people at the show. A complete sellout. Biggest seller of the festival, outselling thursday, which had Britney Spears and NSYNC... and that´s in spite of the lack of media coverage. Couldn´t manage to go, unfortunately. I already saw them at the first Rock in Rio, back in 1985, and in 1991 right here, in POA. ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream, this dream is over...
