$10 in your pocket, or a 5% chance to win $100? Id take the chance, but thats just me. Because I can find $10 in change in my car. DMo now, or a 5% chance of drafting Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Brook Lopez, Deandre Jordan, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, Rajon Rondo, Kyle Lowry, Andrew Bynum, Danny Granger, Klay Thompson, Kawahi Leonard, Nikola Vucevic, Tobias Harris. All those guys were drafted between #10-#20. There a re a lot more solid contributors, but I chose to only highlight the all stars or near all-stars. Out of the last 10 drafts, 100 picks 10-20, there are 15-20 all stars in that bunch if you draft right. So a 10% chance of drafting an all-star? Id take it.
This kind of reasoning doesn't apply to sports teams. Money is money, you can always get more of it. In sports, you may have only fleeting chances at championships and championship contention and have to take chances.
Donuts, of course. I've stopped voting in non-public polls, unless Clutch starts them, so my vote isn't reflected in the totals. Not that it's close!
D-Mo by far. No telling how much longer Dwight will play & how healthy and what level he will play at. The draft pick you don't know where it will be & no telling if the player will pan out.
An oddster would tell you 5% chance to get $100 has the value of $5. He'd take the $10 and run. Now, if you desperately NEED $100 and you only have $10, then you probably would be willing to throw in your $10 for a 5% chance to win $100. (That's how casinos make big money out of desperate/addicted/stupid people, BTW.) But then there might be other ways to make $100 without throwing in your $10.
