McHale does what he's told. Ultimate 'yes' man. If the ROX acquire Dragic he starts immediately. Why do you think Josh Smith was handed the starters gig right from the beginning?
I would be down for IT. Dude is undervalued for his offensive prowess (his ability to finish at the rim and create for himself is ELITE) and does it very efficiently. He's been panned for "pounding the air out of the ball" but if you look at the stats, it's hard to argue that he's a very positive influence on any offense. Defensively... Let's just say that he doesn't bring much to the table. However, for a team that lacks a scorer as much as Houston does, we could do MUCH WORSE than IT and his very, very reasonable 27 million/3 years contract. However, this move, compared to Dragic, who's a step up in my opinion, probably won't put us over the top. Would still seriously consider it though.
If you can poach Thomas for a fraction of the price then pull the trigger. PG must be upgraded and at the least this would inject some competition at the position.
I think PHX is kind of bluffing about Isaiah Thomas. Their problem isn't "restoring last year's roster balance"-- that team ended up in 9th place, too. They simply need to be at a whole other level of talent. Their issue with Dragic isn't all about Isaiah Thomas. With or without Thomas, Dragic is an upcoming free agent who will receive many lucrative bids. He can just leave for any reason and is open about his interest in looking around the entire league.
IT is a trade asset. Even if they just get a 2nd round pick in return for him, it's one more 2nd round pick than they would have had without signing IT.
I don't understand why they would movie Isaiah Thomas contract and not goran dragic. Isaiah Thomas they just signed to a long term contract and goran dragic is a free agent next year and can easily sign with another team. Why would they do that.
The only problem I see with Isiaah on this team besides his contract length is closing out games. Offensively we improve tremendously, but opposing PG's will eat him alive. And if we just keep Beverly in, we're in the same situation as we currently are closing out games. Albeit having him would shorten the amount of close games we play, but still something to worry about.
What are the possibilities that we snag Ty Lawson? Can it even happen? Morey can surprise us with Dragic, which I hope he does. But.... how come no posts about us trying to involve ourselves in a trade or signing of Ty Lawson? I have no idea what his salary or current signing status sheet is with Denver, so that's why I am asking.
The reason would be Dragic is a better player, and would re-sign if paid to his liking and the PG glut eliminated with IT's departure. Hypothetically speaking, of course.
My brother is a Suns fan and I watch alot of their games. IT is a blackhole offensively and a turnstile on defense. DO NOT WANT.
McHale loves Dragic while he was here, it even ended up souring the relationship with Dragic Dragic comes, he starts, no question
