Yeah, Shady. The disturbing thing here is that Boki has trouble getting his shot off against players his size. And this is in the Summer League. That plus the fact his shot isn't dropping at all is a bad omen. There's just not a lot of talent down on the bench.

There is no 3 year rule. Just a 3 veteran limit rule.

I typed the injury exemption wrong in previous post: It is missing 25 games. Basically, you just don't see too many teams come close to using the 3 vet limit (considering free agents don't count against that, nor players who played any portion of the regular season in the CBA).

Ahh crud I should have said something. I thought about it but then just picturing someone in LA thinking I was crazy for saying I'm 'FRANCHISE BLADE' and asking about clutchcity.

Next time. Now I know what you look like.

If anyone's going to any of the other Rox games this week, let me know. Gotta hang with my cc.net homies.

I saw most of the first half, and Wilcox looked AWESOME. Nothing the Lakers tried slowed him down much.

Here's the grain of salt, though, and it's a pretty big grain: The Lakers summer league team has a very talented backcourt (Kareem Rush, Jannero Pargo) but their frontcourt is completely lacking pro experience (Luke Walton, Brian Cook, Leon Smith, Eric Chenowith). Eddie Griffin might have gone for 40 against that bunch.

Still, if Wilcox can be half that good against real competition, it'll make losing Elton Brand a little easier to swallow.

Excellent detail! I can almost see him on the court. What's interesting is that Malick actually seems to have pride in working at the FT line. Which is strange. Most "raw" PF players don't practice that skill in their youth (Duncan, K. Malone, Thorpe, etc...)

If there's one thing I hate is PF that can't hit FTs.

Just because you are tall, doesn't mean that you can ignore shooting skill, and spend all your time crashing the boards. That's a copout.

Glad to hear that Malick has good FT form.

For those of you at games, I always wear a blue Rockets cap and have glasses. I always try to sit on the first few rows towards the bottom. I try to guess where the Rockets are sitting and sit behind their bench, but I don't always guess right. Their next game is on Tuesday, but that's after a Lakers/Clippers game, so it may be a madhouse. I may get there early for the Lakers game, I'm not sure. But then they play on Wednesday and Thursday, so maybe those would be easier to hook up. If you guys see me, drop on by if there's space nearby.

Thanks again to everyone who helped out with the game/scouting reports, in particular DoD and RF34. Greatly appreciated.

DoD, RF...did you guys read the Sporting News scouting report on the Summer League? They agreed with your positive assesment re: Bosh, calling him the most impressive player playing so far, and said that his ability to put the ball on the floor is what seperates him, and that he will be a star. DoD, I think you made mention of the exact same aspect of his game. Also, I didn't know that he had 11 rebs and 5 blocks in the game vs. the Rockets.

I think we need to take a step back with regards to Badiane, or The Bad Man. From what I saw he has a lot of athleticism, a great attitude, and is better and farther along offensively than we were lead to believe...but he also doesn't yet have the frame to play the way he plays, and that's important. He is going to have to be a banger if he plays; he's extremely fast, but he's not quick enough laterally to get by on his athleticism. He's going to need time. I don't see anything like Ben Wallace out of him at this weight, he's just too light.

In terms of Boki, I come back to the same question I asked before: What is the plan with this guy? What is the time frame? Here is my thinking:

We invested the 15th pick in him..and assuming he demonstrates anything like the ability we thought he had, we need to invest time in him as well, playing time. But the forst part of the equationg remains to be seen, and that is what I think ought to be our biggest area of focus during this SL...getting Boki the ball and seeing what he can do with it, whether he can demonstrate the ability to justify giving him the pt to prove himself. So far, he hasn't, but I ask whether or not he has been given the ball enough.

Bostjan Nachbar didn't play much last year because he wasn't that good. If Rudy T thought Nachbar would help us win, he would play him. Rudy T is not adverse to playing younger players. Nachbar is 22 yrs old, has been a pro for 5 yrs now. He played on the highest level is Europe. Stop making excuses for him, he just hasn't played that well. He has been a disapointment. Maybe he will come around........... but I have not liked what I have seen, and I am sure VanGundy hasn't been impressed

    Boki isn't a wide receiver.

Creating your own shot is part of being a good offensive player, which is important when you have no skills in the other facets of the game.
