What if no trade - major or minor - happens by the deadline? What if this is the team we're rolling with? If that were to be the case, I would be a bit disappointed. I honestly don't know that there's anyone out there who fits our need (playmaking PG, IMO) that we could actually get so maybe it's not fair to be disappointed, but the main reason I'd be disappointed is I wouldn't be so sure the team we're bringing into the playoffs this year is much better than the one we brought last year. The main difference between this year's team and last year's is that Harden has gotten even better and our defense is better. Those are both great, but I don't think they're great enough to bring the title to Houston - or to even get close. The bench has the potential to be much better but with inconsistent scorers (Terry, Brewer, Smith, TJones) it can also give us some cringe-worthy performances. So how would you feel if nothing happened between now and the end of trade deadline, and why? Pissed, disappointed, content, happy? Poll coming on how likely you think an impending trade is.
I would be disappointed, but at the same time it takes two teams to agree to a trade, so if there isn't good value out there I don't want Morey throwing away quality assets for perhaps a marginal return. If NOTHING happens, I guess I will really want to beat the drum of getting #FreeCanaan some minutes as that would be the only other solution to potentially solving the PG issue.
Nada happens? Then I'd assume an agreement is in place with one or more CBAers (and/or anticipated buy-outs). And I'd still expect to be playing on Memorial Day, perhaps even Father's Day.
Last year remember all the Parsons, Lin, Asik trade talks and it eneded up being AB the one to get traded for Jordan Hamilton, I really dont expect anything major. Yeah I said it.
I would be a bit disappointed, but retaining our players and the Pelicans pick can be beneficial for us too.
It is likely that nothing is going to happen. Remember how Omer Asik was for sure getting dealt before the deadline last year? I think it will be the same thing; a lot of smoke, but no fire. Hope I am wrong.
I hope something happens, but only if it's a good deal. A trade for the sake of a trade(i.e. Brooks for Hamilton) could be stupid and counterproductive. If nothing happens, so be it. It obviously means there was no one available who could help at a reasonable price. Now if we don't address the PG situation by the end of next summer, THEN I'll be pretty p-ssed.
I would be mildly disappointed, but it takes 2 to rock the boat. At the very least, we can all agree that it wouldn't be due to lack of effort on DM's part.
We have too many contracts structured specifically to be traded for us not to do a single thing. Something will happen.
I voted 75% chance of a trade happening. I think there is 25% chance of it being an "impact player" type trade (Dragic/Lawson/Knight), but a 75% of "some sort of trade" perhaps to add a marginal PG to upgrade the situation but at little asset cost (like the NYK 2nd rounder or the DEN 2nd rounder).
That's what concerns me. The man is addicted to making some sort of trade at the deadline. Usually they're good ones, but last year felt forced and immediately backfired when Bev went down with an injury.
If we don't at least come out of the deadline with a decent PG or C, I will be a tad disappointed. I'm not upset with the team as it is, though.
This. I said 50%, simply because trades are NEVER more likely than not, but even when Daryl says "we're not doing anything" something happens. I don't think it will be a major piece, but he'll probably flip assets.
