I've always said beverly is a bench player that needs to come off the bench. He was/is great because of the energy he brings. However his style of play isn't sustainable as a starter running a team. It's sustainable as a bench player getting 20 min a game.
I'd rather have canaan getting in a groove than to watch such a limited guy in bev get so many minutes. Our pg play is pathetic.
The Rockets had Ariza on Lillard even when Beverley was on the court in the 4th. I don't recall Beverley being taken off an elite PG in past years. Beverley is definitely not 100%. On offense, it isn't just a matter of Beverley-- it's a matter of the Rockets general lack of perimeter creator outside of Harden. Beverley, Terry, Ariza and Brewer are all largely dependent on having shots created for them. The most natural place to look is at PG, but I'm sure Morey isn't limiting himself just to the PG spot.
Bev's days should be numbered as a starter. I wish McHale would give Canaan a shot to see what he can do with consistent rotation minutes. Where's Shved? I'm not a fan of Papa but hell I wouldn't mind seeing him right now. TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT!
Go down the list of NBA teams and their starting PGs. Only the Lakers might arguably have a worse starting PG (Clarkson). Outside of that EVERY single team in the league has a better starting PG than us.
Bev is making me miss Luther Head running the point for us. Remember Rafer Alston? He would be a great fit here. Repeat History.
