Nevermind. I now see what you're saying. You're right. Didn't consider the fact that the players that teams were cutting were already on their teams. I guess my trade proposal wouldn't work then. Phoenix probably wouldn't be able to cut that many players then. Damn
QUick question...when can Shved be traded with other players? The NBA trade machine says he cvan't be traded w others...I was wondering when this is not a problem. Also....couple of trade ideas: Pappa, Shved for Aldrich, Calderon, and Hardaway. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=l7rck8n Pappa and Cannan(plus a 1st) for MCW and Henry Simms http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=l75vye7 First trade....we get shooting and distributing from a pass-first PG....a good young shooter, and a big. Second trade gets us a young PG who isn't perfect, but he could be special in time(a young Rondo), and another big. These aren't sexy trades, but it allows us to improve without giving up much in the process...everyone loves Terry(me too), but Calderon is a much better shooter and facilitator...MCW is huge(6'6"), and could give the West Conf. PGs issues as a duo with Bev. Again, he isn't perfect(can't shoot), but he's excellent as a distributor(on a ****ty team), and can board and D(a young Rondo).
MCW stats for last 5 games...again, not a good shooter, but everything else would be an upgrade at the PG position: 15, 12, and 8 boards 2, 4, and 5(bad game) 13, 8, and 6 17, 10, and 10 14, 9, and 10 Last 5 game averages....12, 9 assists, and almost 8 boards. Bev last 5 game averages....7, 3 assists and 3 boards.....that's pathetic for a starting PG on a very good basketball team....imagine how good would our offense be with MCW? Dunno, but I'd like to see. Hell, Calderon has been a lot better than Bev recently...on the Knicks: 11, 5 assists, and nearly 3 boards....and he's shot 73% from deep in that time(8-11). Say what you want about his defense(and I don't see us trading him...still have that for playoffs), but his offense is just awful. We need an upgrade, and these are two realistic upgrades that don't have us losing much in return.
And speaking of Bev's defense....he hasn't been great lately: He guarded Ellis most of the night--33pts(Dal) Better with Bradley--10pts(Bos) Lit up by DJ Augustin--28, 12assts(Det) Rose played well--23(Chi) Knight was good too--12 and 11assts(Mil) He isn't this defensive stopper that helps to tilt the game in our favor...he's pesky, but not playing otherworldly defense. His season high in points is 20(once) His season high in assists is 7(once) I don't want to trash the guy, because he's a great backup PG...but Morey really **** the bed when he gave up on both Dragic(MIP 2013-14) and Lowry(starting the all-star game). Big fan of DM, but he needs to fix the two HUGE personnel mistakes that he's made regarding our PG position. Any true fan of Morey has got to acknowledge that he really crapped the bed in regards to these two guys....it is almost unforgivable....almost. If we could get Dragic...then yes, he'd make amends....if he gets Calderon or MCW...I'd be less angry about Dragic and Lowry....Norris Cole isn't gonna do it, nor Lin, Reggie from OKC would be great, but that isn't happening, Collison would be great, but don't hold your breath, and I seriously doubt that Trey Burke is coming either. Lots of writing, but I'm just tired of barely winning bc we cannot generate any offensive flow outside of JH...and even that isn't always smooth. I see either Calderon or MCW making their way here...we'd be better for it.
In case you think that my comparison to Rondo is just hyperbole...stats this year: Michael Carter-Williams, PG PHI 41games 33.9mins 15.pts 6.2reb 7.4ast 1.5stl 0.4blk 10double doubles 3 trip dubs Rajon Rondo, PG BOS/DAL 43games 30.5mins 8.7pts 6.3reb 8.7ast 1.6stl 0.1blk 11double doubles 3 trip dubs GET HIM, Daryl.
Lance Stephenson, not Dragic. If Okafor not available, bring up Capella. Shved, Pap, Dorsey, 2nd rounders.
According to the ESPN NBA Trade Machine (and if I read it correctly): February 18, 2015. The 60-day restriction lifts on Shved being traded in combination with other players, and at this point he could be traded to the T-Wolves. He can be traded by himself now. July 1, 2015. At this point the one year restriction lifts on Shved being traded back to the Sixers.
Did you just start following the Rockets? How did Morey "**** the bed when he gave up on Lowry". Lowry got us the pick that was the major factor to getting us Harden. He was great but you don't get a guaranteed lottery pick without giving up something, and you probably dont get Harden without the guarenteed lottery pick. Your long posts sort of lose all credibility when you talk like that. You just posted a lot of words. Do your research.
I've followed the Rockets since 1984....you? I know that Lowry fought w McHale, and DM felt that we had to get some value from him since he wanted out(remember, we had just signed him to a 4 year ext). If you're insinuating that Morey did this with Harden in mind, then he really is the chosen one of the NBA. All kidding aside...we've had bad PG play for 3+ years....partly bc we let both Dragic and Lowry go....I understand that the pick helped us get Harden...but I'm not speaking on that. We need an upgrade...we have a couple of trade partners who don't, for some reason, want their PGs(who are better than our PG). I'm just advocating for a trade that'll help us win...that's all. I presented a case for two moves...one a low-risk move for a young PG, and one a no-risk move for a veteran who's still an upgrade in the areas that we need.
I like the idea of getting MCW and Noel for Howard...bc he's doing nothing for us for the next 4 weeks, but his numbers aren't bad...still a defensive force, and can score most of the time. It would be a little underhanded to trade the guy less than two years after signing him...we made a huge deal about getting him. It would also send a very bad message to any other players that might wanna choose Houston(better not get hurt...or you're gone). Not to mention Josh Smith losing his mind if this happened. I applause your idea, and in a vacuum it would totally work.
Glad your not the GM. Unless Howard is legit career ending injury then defiantly no. Howard gets under looked so much. He does a lot of stuff out there and when Howard's in the paint it makes it harder for anyone to drive.
You stated Morey screwed up by trading Lowry. You said it was unforgivable. I just have a hard time seeing the logic in that. Morey wanted to build assets to try and trade for a star. He figured a lottery pick would be more valuable than Lowry to trade. And then he ended up using that pick to acquire a player who is now our star. Doesn't matter if he got lucky with Harden. You said he **** the bed with the Lowry trade and again, stated it was "unforgivable"
But......if Dwight was gonna be traded....I'd go this way with it. Best bench in the league...no the best 5, but that's a lot of talent. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nxc6q2h
Look...it's my opinion...that's all. No need to upset with that. We simply disagree on how we feel about it. I can't change your mind, and you, mine. Morey was definitely fortunate to have the Harden situation happen...any GM would be. He fleeced the Thunder that day, and we have the MVP of the league on our team due to that trade.....trust me, I'm happy that we got Harden....but you must also remember that we had Dragic...he wanted to sign w the Rockets, but we didn't wanna budge on the 4th year--he signs a 4 year, 30 million dollar contract...we signed Jeremy Lin to a 4 year, 28.8 million dollar deal.....which is the better signing? If you can't at least acknowledge that is was a big mistake to sign Lin over Dragic....for the exact same money....then you might be blinded by.....something. This isn't a knock against you, but Morey isn't perfect.
I wanted to suggest getting Kyle O'Quinn for Canaan and Johnson. I thought about Dorsey and Johnson, but Canaan might be more tempting. It seems McHale isn't likely to give Canaan another go any time soon. Kyle is big, and a good all round player. He can add depth to our frontcourt at the 5 and 4 in Howard's absence. Trade Dorsey to Philly for a future 2nd rounder. Use the NY 2nd rounder to get Mo Williams if possible.
Nerlins Noel, at his age and at his price, has more trade value, and I mean A LOT more trade value, than an extremely expensive, broken down prima donna (Dwight Howard). Howard does not have good trade value right now. Would Phil Jackson trade Amare Stoudemire's huge expiring contract for Howard, straight up? Maybe, maybe not. I think Jackson would rather have the cap space this summer. Doesn't matter, as Howard will not be traded because of the reasons you point out, but Rockets fans need to recognize that the number of teams out there that are calling up Daryl Morey and offering anything remotely valuable for Dwight Howard right now is zero. Stop posting Dwight Howard trade ideas! Not happening!
I'm not sure if this guy's been mentioned yet as a fix for our PG problem.... http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n9cxhpx Tyreke Evans for Pappa, Terry, and 1st round pick Jrue Holiday will be back soon, sending Evens back to the 6th man role....Evens has been amazing as of late...for the year he's averaging 16, 7, 6....and he's 6'6"...can play a little defense, and can create for himself and others. When he was a rookie, he was seen as the next new star...he got derailed in Sactown, and now plays as a 6th man on a so-so team. Would NO take a couple of shorter contracts and their 1st rounder back for him? For a franchise that is cash-strapped, saving $20million in this deal means something to ownership....it'll hurt a bit on the court, but they aren't winning anyways. Thoughts?
