More are going - op nailed that one, too:

    http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/sports/6288083.htm

If OP meant Cat was going to puppyland, could we be getting in on the Szczerbiak sweepstakes? Then Posey could run the 2, and we'd have an outstanding shooter at the 3.

    "Imprint" = Brand?

    hmmm.

ROCKET!!!'s status as an insider is still yet to be proven, buy I would have to say that if he isn't the real deal it would shock me that he would dare mess with an OP thread after pops has been so long absent...

Man this is some crazy ish. i think we're gonna trade mobley and rice for brian grant and caron butler.

I think it would be a good trade for miami since they want enough money to go after a big name free agent next year and by getting rid of grant's contract along with rice's contract next year they will have plenty to get two top free agents.

i hope we package mobley for brand though.

Trying to decode this stuff is better than suffering through the crap trade threads. I have invisible ink on my 3 d glasses, and magazine cutouts all over the floor, as I wiggle my fingers, pat my head and do my best Beautiful Mind impression . . .

Levy = Bank. Imprint = Brand. Translation - Oily, do you think that Sterling will break the bank and offer up Brand a max deal. Perhaps Brand is a restricted FA and, if the Clips aren't willing to pull the trigger and match a max offer, Brand could be had for a SNT?

Talk about a wild ass guess on my part.

    From ESPN:

"I'm very, very interested in talking to Michael to see where he's at," Dunleavy said, adding that the 7-foot Olowokandi "absolutely" fits into his plans for the team.

Dunleavy said he's been assured by the Clippers that they'll do everything they can to re-sign those players, which they can do starting Wednesday. "I'm going to have an input into signing players," he said.

"That's all going to answer itself pretty quickly," said Clippers executive vice president Andy Roesner, adding that the team is prepared to make "a pretty generous offer" to Brand.

If it's a max out offer, then why not just say that? Brand is max worthy and should hold out for that. If the Clips won't do it, we offer Mobley, Cato, Rice and Griffin, and whatever else it takes. Kandi man is gone, and Chris Kaman and Soforkis are not ready. Cato could significantly help that team and Dunleavy knows it.

I'll put up our four of Francis/Posey/Brand/Yao against Payton/Kobe/Malone and Shaq. We might not win, but it would be a hell of a battle. I'm so fired up.

Not illogical, but not what I get from oeilpere's cryptic "but who do we get?" statement.

Mind you I'm not happy about my interpretation.

The Clips have so many free agents that sign and trades could be done in any number of ways including a straight up 1 for 1 deal.

So the logical thing to assume is oeipere is saying "we could any number of guys". I don't think so.

I think he's saying Van Gundy and CD want Miller. And the "who do we get?" part is a valid question. He was great in '02, but last year he didn't even look like the same player.

We've heard rumors about Van Gundy's meeting with Steve and yesterday Murphy (loud-mouth Rocket's employee) goes on the radio and states unequivocally Steve's not a point guard. Now if either the above rumors or Murph's declaration is any indication of the way the organization is thinking, it's logical.

And think about it, a vast majority here want a bruising 4, I bet Van Gundy does too. But what brought him here was Yao. How do you best maximize his impact?

Miller's scoring average dropped 3pts. last year. You'd expect that playing on a much more talented team. His shooting percentage dropped almost 5%. His average assists dropped by
over four per game. It was a Moochie-like regression that had a lot of people asking "huh?"

Not a lot to love there. Personal problems? Clipper's Chemistry? I don't know, but he picked the worst year possible to screw the pooch.

Cat for Odom doesn't really bother me, but I don't think it solves anything.

Dre Miller. Well, who do we get?

Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

As someone else mentioned, you gotta consider San Antonio as a candidate for "pussyland," as they're known for being soft. Also, New Orleans, Orlando, Los Angeles and Miami are all "warm and wet" so any of those could work too. Sorry ... couldn't pass up the opportunity to be crude & crass.

declan...i DIG your guess. it's a new road that hasn't been posted yet and an interesting one at that.

With rumors that Miller won't get anything more than 8 mil a year from most teams (Utah might want to overpay), this could be a possible scenario IF Sterling ever wanted to sign and trade players. But I don't see why he wouldn't want to do this. He's looking at losing Maggette and maybe even Q. Having a scoring 2 like Mobley under cheap terms could be something Sterling wants.

I am mixed on the idea about bringing in Miller...because of last season. Do we get the assists leader from 2 years ago or the guy that made those FT lane violations? I think the LA city and spotlight got to him. Maybe a change of scenery to smaller market and where he won't be put under the microscope would be better.

He would still definitely be put under the microscope if he was here. I hope this doesn't happen though as SF is so good that he's capable of playing the PG so we should get a player for where we are weak, the 4.

Here's the only trade that I could get to work that sends Cat to "puppyland" for Szczerbiak, given Szczerbiak's base year contract:

    Houston trades:

SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 20.6 minutes)
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)

    Houston receives:

PF Marc Jackson (5.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
SG Wally Szczerbiak (17.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 35.3 minutes)
SG Terrell Brandon (17.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 35.3 minutes)
PG Troy Hudson (14.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 5.7 apg in 32.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +2.4 ppg, -0.4 rpg, and +3.8 apg.

    Minnesota trades:
PF Marc Jackson (5.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
SG Wally Szczerbiak (17.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 35.3 minutes)
SG Terrell Brandon (17.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.6 apg in 35.3 minutes)
PG Troy Hudson (14.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 5.7 apg in 32.9 minutes)

Minnesota receives: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 73 games)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 67 games)
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 62 games)
Change in team outlook: -2.4 ppg, +0.4 rpg, and -3.8 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Brandon's salary comes off in January, according to wire reports. Rice is an expiring contract. Minnesota dumps overpaid players in Jackson and Szczerbiak. We get a shooter and a banger. Minnesota doesn't need Hudson, now that they have Cassell, Hudson would be awesome for us. Mobley is a better player than Ricky Davis, so our trade is better for Minnesota than the Cleveland trade. This trade works for both sides.

it's great to hear from pops again. it's been awhile. hope you get better man.

this pussyland thing is making me scratch my head. i'm lost as to where it could be, but the clips and miami sound like the best 2. i'm enticed to see who we could get from either one of those teams since good players are to be had on both. can't wait to hear more. keep up the good work pops, and ROCKETS!!!

Reading that clue, I immediately thought of a close game against the Clippers where Mobley, in a not so subtle manner, called Odom a "p***y" right to his face.

Probably coincidence, but it has to be the Clipps...Maggette's departure could be a catalyst for movement on other fronts.

I think bigboymumu nailed it -- Cat's home turf of Philadelphia. However, I suspect a three-way trade with Cat going to Phlly and us winding up with a PG (but not 6-3 Snow).

Hottoddie, please script up a plausible trade where the Rockets get a decent, tall PG and Philly gets hometown son Mobley. Thanks in advance.

JBC, I love that Minny trade, but you really think we could get Troy Hudson, Scerbiak, Jackson and Brandon for just Cat and Mo? Hudson was on-fire in the p'offs last year, he was sick. I would absolutely LOVE to get Corey Maggette for Cat Mobley. I think it's a fair trade, I just think Maggette's game is what we need. He can shoot and slash.

As far as Pussyland, that's the name of a book...the setting is all over the US, but the author's from LA. hehe

I think its the following teams:

    LA Clipps: Odom/Brand/
    Miami: Jones/Grant/Butler
    Minn:Wally
    Philly:Snow
    Portland:Wallace/D.Anderson

who knows what pussyland means but i pray that it's the LA Clipps.

    NO to Snow
    NO to Wally
    NO to Jones
    Yes to Odom
    Yes to Brand
    Yes to Wallace
    Yes to Butler

This trade leaves us one too many centers. It could then lead to the Cato/Griffin for Wallace deal, however, I tend to think there was no "SS" for "PP" error, and that we are dealing with Miami, as someone else pointed out early on in this thread. I believe I recall Pops making Scarface references in the past.

What's funny is that we'd be coming up with all kinds of trade scenarios to bring Cuttino to Houston if he played on another team and was on the block. Maybe I'm just not as down on him as yall are. I'm just not prepared to dump him for Eric Snow. Snow isn't very good at all. He's got a very ugly jumper. He probably earns roughly the same as Cuttino as well.

As far as the Odom for Mobley trade goes, I'd probably do it. Problem is where does that leave James Posey? Francis would still be forced to play PG. Odom can share duties with him I guess.
