I was there on business and was able to just walk up and get a single ticket. I think it was slightly discounted because it was last minute and a single.
I went 2 weeks ago and it was a great show. Even my parents loved it. Whoa. I paid like $80 per ticket for seats in the center of the mezzanine.
I wanted to see it, but I couldn't justify the ticket prices... With our vacation right around the corner...
I enjoyed the show because the overall production was very good. I don't think it's amazing nor do I think it is that hilarious by any means. Think it might get a little too much hype because it's "risky" but shock value for the sake of shock value is not particularly that impressive to me.
I was afraid of this. I bought tickets to to Book of Mormon and Larry David's new play "fish in the dark" both in New York in two weeks. I have a feeling I'm going to like the latter way more and I spent 75% less for those tickets. I prefer curb your enthusiasm comedy over south park not to mention that one isn't even a musical, which I'm usually against.
For anyone interested who doesn't have tickets yet, they do a lottery 2.5hrs before the show. Show up & enter. They pick 10 people to get 2 tickets each. These are FRONT ROW tickets. AND anyone in the lottery who does not win has the opportunity to buy really good tickets at a much reduced price. I have friends who have won & I have friends who have lost & bought $120 tickets at $50 a piece. It's a GREAT deal. I wish I had known before my parents had gone & bought us tickets. (by the way, show is great!) **call for details. This is just what I have heard from lottery winners & non-winners.
Done both before. Paid £40 for seats in the penultimate row, could barely see anything, and a few months later, entered the lottery and got front row seats for £20! Honestly, the odds are pretty good, I counted about 70-80 people who entered the lottery, it was teh whole front row, so about 20-30 seats, but then again I went on a Monday when less people would queue up. The show itself is fantastic. It does go over the top in its sexual humour, but about 85% of the humour is the standard hilarious kind you expect from any good comedy show. And the choreography, the dancing, my god, those guys up there were talented as hell.
i saw it with a mormon and he was laughing his ass off more than any of us. he said there was all kinds of "inside" stuff that only a mormon would get. obviously, it is not for those with sensitive ears, but i think lots of younger mormons have come out and said how much they liked it. i was sitting next to a very nice, older, well dressed couple who were season ticket holders. i chatted with them for a bit and figured they would walk out within 5 minutes, but they stayed for the whole thing. i had 2nd row at bass concert hall in austin (i think it was $150/ticket)...it was the coolest 'musical' experience i have ever had. south park has had alot of mormon stuff for years and parker and stone said they grew up with alot of mormons. they also go after catholics, scientologists...years ago they had an episode with mohammed and nobody cared, but when they tried again recently comedy central censored it.
I love most of what Matt Stone and Trey Parker attempt, but this was a little much for me for some reason. Maybe it was the hype - I've come to expect the best from those two - but I found myself trying too hard to find something to enjoy about it. If it was simply a musical without some of their over-the-top vulgarity, or if it was fully over-the-top, it would have been better. In my opinion
