Yeah, what The Cat said in his tweet about Dragic being "on the trade block" is not accurate. He misunderstood the article he linked to his tweet. Here's the Sporting News article: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/sto...s-lakers-brook-lopez-lance-stephenson/slide/3 All this reporter is saying is that PHX is looking for a big with shooting range to fill the void left by Channing Frye. Even Gerald Green's name is thrown in as a potential trade asset in landing such a big. Bottom line: this is NO Wojbomb. Nothing to see here.
The articles lists "15 known inhabitants of the trading block" and proceeds to name "Goran Dragic, Suns"
If u add a 5, u dump Dorsey... Adding a 1, u dump Shved or NJohnson.... But we won't make any such move til after the deadline, in hopes that we can work a deal whereby we send more than we receive... Personally, I think adding any of the players u mentioned helps our depth...
How did you get that from the article? The title is "NBA trade deadline: 15 known inhabitants of the trading block", and it list Dragic as #3. The article does mention Green, but it also mentions Dragic at the end, arguing that PHX could get a better return for him. It's certainly not a Wojbomb, but the author is a legit NBA journalist.
Harden and DMo went out of their way to talk to Dragic during halftime, and McHale spoke with him before the game. Bull made a comment about it, as if it were out of the ordinary. For reference, the Rockets did the same thing with Brewer before making the trade with Minnesota.
Nice trade!! How many more years TJones has on his rookie contract one more right? And how much you think he's going to get paid? Depending on this I think that maybe they could. Then they would also have two firsts that they can package to get a younger center or a defensive wing. As far Mirotic he is great but he alone isn't enough you will have probably to add another first. Of course Suns will have to be desperate by then BUT Mirotic is nice compesation. Maybe better than DMO in some ways.
Man, if we can get Goran w/o giving up Dmo, then even with a hobbled Dwight we have a shot. Just watching GS play, there is no way we can compete with them w/o a better option at PG.
Known by whom? Sean Deveney, the writer? Does he even cite anonymous sources? Is this breaking news or mere speculation? Why haven't known NBA insiders like Woj or Amick broken the story? Has anyone prominent (or even local) tweeted anything about Dragic being on the trade block? Here's all that bleacher report-like, photo gallery says: The Suns have loaded up on guards, and it seems that no matter how coach Jeff Hornacek handles the situation, someone is not going to be pleased. While there has been nothing serious in terms of deals that have been close, as the Suns’ hold on a playoff spot in the West slips away, there is a sense that they’ll need to pull the trigger on something that can bring in the kind of perimeter-shooting big man they lost when Channing Frye left in free agency. Gerald Green (a free agent) is a trade possibility, but Dragic (also a free agent) would net a better return. The Lakers have wanted Dragic all year, but don’t have much to offer. There's a big difference between teams (like the Lakers and Rockets) inquiring about Dragic -- which, by the way, is already known and reported by Woj and others -- versus PHX outright putting him on the trading block.
Sounds like you're overstating "trading block". I do not believe PHX is going to give him away, nor do I think that's what the author intended. Asik was on the "trading block" for a year before he was finally dealt. All the author is saying is that PHX is willing to deal Dragic, but they want a "stretch 4" in return. None of that is a surprise, but it is nice getting some sort of confirmation from someone in the media.
If I'm PHX and Hou offers me any combination of Jones, Capella, Papa, NYK pick, NOP pick or Cannan. Based on the unpredictably of Dragics FA and his open desire to test the market I take that deal in a heart beat.
OK, maybe I take a different connotation from someone saying Dragic is on the "trading block". As far as Asik is concerned, his trade demands (which Asik made known publicly after Dwight was acquired) necessitated his eventual "trade block" status. Both Morey and McHale tried in vain to appease Asik during the failed TT experiment. Whereas Dragic, despite his frustrations, is now saying all the right things to the media. But I see your larger point. I'm sure if PHX could land Bosh or Love (unlikely) in a multi-team deal involving Dragic/Green they would pull the trigger. I agree with you there.
On the other hand, if Phoenix says give us DMo and the NO 1st or go screw yourself and go into the playoffs with Beverly, I'd probably do it. We're pretty desperate.
Not that desperate. Doesn't make any sense for us to do that. We can simply trade Ariza this offseason and sign Dragic to a near max deal. To put it another way....I'd rather just trade the DEN 2nd for Mo Williams then give up DMo for Dragic. I bet if you asked around, DMo alone has more value than Dragic.
"If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them"
Maybe you're right. But the upgrade from Bev to Dragic is significantly better than the downgrade of Dmo to TJones / Smith.
The article by Sean Deveney, who is very close with Goran Dragic, is titled "15 known inhabitants of the trading block" and goes on to list Dragic as No. 3 of the 15. Please speak for yourself in the future. If you want to disagree with Deveney, that's fine, but he very clearly lists Dragic as on the block... so no, I'm pretty sure I didn't misunderstand him. Thanks, though.
