Really? He hasn't proven anything? With Dwight hurt, he's the 2nd best player on the team and can play the 4 and 5 and has rapidly improved every season thus far and is still young. Trading that for a potential rental of Dragic is out of the question. Don't get me wrong, I like Jones, but in no way would he be able to give the Rockets what they get from DMo. Jones doesn't have the post game, the defense (especially post defense), and he can't play the 5 if needed....and I don't see any of that changing this season, if ever. Creating a hole at the starting 4 and backup 5 to get an upgraded PG is simply not worth it.
trading for dragic using the N.O pick + other assets, then paying him the MAX this summer will hurt this team Guys dragic is on a decent contract but morey missed that chance, hes now a expiring contract, this summer him getting $15,000,000 is something the rockets shouldn't do. whats point of trading for him him you wont pay him what he wants this summer ? If he wants to come at a bargin deal this summer sign him then, but NY, LA etc will give him way more. Hes a older guy, 7,000,000-9,000,000 is the most i would pay if that. I would spend that money on younger players with more upside "KNIGHT". Dragic is SOLID but hes past his prime no defense with harden in back court, this howard situation is still not educating people...
This is the only season he's gotten better. Last season he was terrible. Jones has increased game every year. So no sir there won't be a void at that position. Jones averaged 14 and 8 last season . He brings it in a different fashion than Dmo. Now in the playoffs we will see a heavy dosage of Dwight's post up. Dmo's post up will be very second handed at best. I love Dmo's game but it's a good chance he will be traded. On the cool I hope Morey stands pat. But as we all know he won't be doing that. Especially when we need a fresh and healthy James Harden. Playmaker is what we need.
I just want to say if we keep breaking up the core then we will never be able to do what the Atlanta Hawks and GSW are doing.
1. I think if Morey is going to trade for Dragic then by all accounts he intends to re-sign Dragic. You don't move assets-much less valuable assets-to get Dragic only to see him walk this summer 2. You would rather spend money on young players with more upside like Knight but what's he going to cost? The same 7-9 million you would spend on Dragic? There's a difference between Dragic and Knight--one player has proven that he can score both in the regular season and in the playoffs and has been on an All-NBA team whereas the other one hasn't shot above 42% from the floor until this year. 3. Your analogy about Howard not educating people is irrelevant because Dragic's never had a history of injuries like Howard has, Dragic's game isn't solely relied upon athleticism, and Dragic hasn't logged as many games/minutes as Howard has. Is Dragic worth $11-$12 million on this team? Absolutely because what he brings to this team fulfills what they are sorely lacking and needing.
What the Hawks are doing relies upon great coaching and schemes and a roster full of competent players. They, by default, have to rely on team ball since there's no Harden on their squad. That's not a knock on James but that's just how it is. The Warriors' conference record is 23-7 while Houston's is 20-10. Unfortunately for the Rockets the 3 game difference is due to them getting beat up by Golden State. Aside from that, I would hold the congratulatory high fives until the playoffs come. Many teams start out fast (Portland last year) only to get knocked out before getting to the Finals.
Exactly this. Also that's why I don't like getting into it all that much because I highly doubt that Morey would trade a rare player for anything less than a rare player. PG is one of the deepest positions in the NBA.
Will be interesting to see if we could even trade Jones, I'd imagine teams are very wary of that nerve acting up again, and he has a LONG way to go to get back to where he was pre-injury.
No, it's better!!! It'll be like all the fans that think back to the 22 game win streak being the highlight of being a Rockets fan for them, LOL. You know the season where the Rockets did **** in the playoffs? On a more serious note... It'll be interesting to see how GS and Atlanta do in the playoffs, but I'm not sure about them yet... Obviously ATL looks to have easier route in East, but I'd be surprised if GSW wins the WCF.
Think that's when it comes down to do well in playoffs. Obviously were trying to trade for him because we think he can make us championship contenders. I think if we make it to the conference finals or the ship players tend to like to stay on contenders. Dragic is an obvious improvement speacily when it comes to offensive load and passing. He defiantly could make this team more dynamic. He's already use to having Thomas and Bledsoe take his assists but he still putting up good numbers.
THIS x 1000!!! Morey always finds a way to pull a rabbit out of the hat. We are surprised, but we are (more often than not) pleased with the end result.
Risky to move DMo with Howard's health issues. But you know damn well that's the piece every team is inquiring about. I'd do it only if you're getting a replacement like maybe Henson in the package. My opinion is one of Jones and DMo, one of Cannan and Bev, Papi, Shved, and the NOP pick are all traded.
Just curious, between DMo and Jones, if the two players were exclusively the secondary option to James—No Dwight—which of the two do you think would have a better stat line? Yes, this is the first year he has started to do well but I think his potential is higher than Jones. That's not to say Jones won't get better. Jones + NO pick + a salary filler/expiring is a pretty nice package for anyone willing to take it.
