It would still be a bad trade. Gogi is about to be a FA and the Suns either move him now, or lose him for nothing after the season. There's no reason whatsoever to give up your 2nd (or 3rd if Dwight ever gets healthy again) best player to bail out the Suns. Gogi's value just isn't that high as a potential rental.
Quite possible. It takes two sides to complete a deal and there just may not be any helpful players available.
How so Bobbythegreat, isn't Dragic net twice as Dmo. So in theory we would have to give up more than just Dmo.
Gut feeling is that Morey holds onto that Pelicans pick past the trade deadline and until the draft, before he flips it.
Had dream last night when Bev was traded to the Jazz and we ended up with Dragic. Really I had a dream and it happened.
I probably won't be surprised if they trade D-Mo or Josh Smith. One of those two might be on the line to get a solid, starting, point guard.
I would be very happy to see Gogi back on the Rockets, but your point is an astute one. He could easily leave us too at the end of the season, especially with an injured Dwight Howard on our team. D-Mo can be retained until 2016. Rep given.
As has always been the case, everyone outside of Harden and Howard is available for the right price. The roster can be divided into 4 groups: Untouchables Harden Howard Smith - can't trade him due to timing of his signing and trade deadline Near Untouchables - Not going anywhere unless we get a top 15 player in returnDMo Ariza Brewer Trade assets - What we are willing to trade that has value around the league TJones Capela Canaan Johnson Beverley Rights to Llull Rights to Gentile NOP 1st NYK 2nd DEN 2nd Trade filler - salary needed to facilitate trades. Players don't have much value themselves. Terry KPap Shved Dorsey Unless someone like Kevin Love or Paul George becomes available, none of Harden, Howard, Smith, DMo, Ariza and Brewer are going anywhere. That also means that our front court is set, and the primary purpose for any trade will be to shore up our backcourt.
I don't think you can trade DMO. He's playing great. I get the thought process, though. And we don't want another Chandler Parsons situation with DMO - losing an asset for nothing.
Question: If we don't trade the pick. . . .. . anyone worth anything in the Draft? Is their value in two first round picks? Rocket River
Well yeah, to make the money work we'd have to give up more than DMo, I was talking about their trade value. IMO Dragic as a potential rental isn't worth anywhere near what DMo would be worth in trade and that's what I was talking about. Honestly I'd offer a garbage package of Shved's expiring contract, Papanikolaou, maybe Canaan if they wanted him, and the NOP 1st and see if they'd bite.
There's an old rule that you don't trade a talented big for a talented small. When you've got a 24 y/o DMo that is an elite post player, developing shooter, and good defender, you don't trade him for a 28 y/o Dragic that can walk away from you in 5 months. Don't get me wrong......I would trade TJones and the NOP 1st for Dragic, but not much more (maybe not even Capela).
