If you're basing that off Yao then you're not quite right. Yes its more complicated then it appears, but Yao's drawback was his immobility in being able to 'go get it', hence why when he got fronted you HAD to swing it to the top of the key and have him seal his man if you wanted to get him the ball. Dmo is just more fleet of foot, sure its not as easy as it looks but getting him the ball should be a priority regardless of how others are performing
DMo may be fleet of foot but he can't back his guy down either. If he gets the ball out of his range, it's still a worthless post up. Post-ups just aren't that reliable these days because zone defenses are so deadly against it. It's ball-stopping offense.
In today's game you have to mix it up to be most efficient on Offense. I agree to an extent. Chris Bosh for example: 35% post play 40% long jumpers or 3s (36%or better) 25% pick and roll, dunks, spin moves, garbage points If he can shoot 3s consistently, he will score 30 points in games and be more deadly
He certainly has enough handle to get himself to the block. I don't think anyone disagrees that we need to be creative when getting him the ball, be it postups, pick and rolls, pick and pops. Still, It NEEDS to be a priority to get this guy 20 shots a night.
FYI only Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Kobe Bryant average 20 shots a night.
I know. Motiejunas should get the second most shots to Jimmy Harden, no questions asked. What that exact number is I am not HIV positive.
15 shots would be enough for DMo to average 20ppg IMO. But that's not the point. The point is, would his efficiency drop if gets 15 shots and opposing teams start to scout him? I think it might a little bit. But I think DMo could still shoot over 50% from the field.
For sure DMO is working hard in every practice. At the moment he is consistently shooting not only the hook shots but also the 3pters. I remember watch houston vs utah as dmo hooked over Gobert who has the longest wingspan and is among top shot blockers in the league. He needs to be fed in the post more often not just because he could throw a shot but also that he could use his passing ability to find the open man from the double defense. As further the season goes, the more ofter we will see dmo doubled.
Haven't you watched DMo this season? Isn't Root Sports available to pretty much the whole city? DMo has very few problems when he gets the ball 10 plus feet away from the basket and he has a number of ways to get closer for his very effective hook shot. That is not to say he is going to go all Shaq on people since no one in the league can do that. Now if you want an accurate narrative on what DMo does wrong at times when he gets the ball in the post try this: He sometimes turns down an easy shot at point blank range to pass back out to someone with a much more difficult shot. He if frequently not selfish enough.
Yeah, that's one thing I've wanted D-Mo to start doing for a while. He will often pass out of the post before he gets a double team to a guy who is only semi-open. He needs to take it himself until a second defender truly stops him. Another thing he does, that almost never works, is handing off to an entry passer (usually Beverly) who cuts baseline around him. None of our guys except Harden are talented enough finishers so it usually results in nothing and only serves to get the ball out of his hands. I don't want him to become a f**k the team black hole, but I certainly want him to be a little more selfish. He gives away to many perfectly good post opps for himself.
We've seen DMo gets the ball on top and then dribbles to the low post and does his moves there. As long as traffic is not too heavy, he has enough handle to take the ball to where he can operate. He can also get the ball from PnR and turns it into a post play. He doesn't always need to set up camp in the post and wait for the entry pass like some classic post players do.
^^^^ The post player has to play like DMo these days. Even Hakeem's moves would have been rendered offensive fouls by today's ****ed up Refs...
I really liked his versatility against the Pistons on the offensive end. He does need to keep on getting better against the longer and quicker bigs who push him off the low block. Luckily his improving outside shot, and his ability to put the ball on the floor and pass, is helping him to overcome that difficulty to some extent. He needs to rebound better, and improve on his free throwing. Right now, he is the 3rd best player on the team after Harden and Howard IMO. He needs to keep on playing aggressively and gain more confidence, so he can make an impact in the playoffs.
Wow, so if someone gains a different opinion from you while watching the game, that person automatically can't have been watching the game? DMo passes those shots because they were not good shots. Yes, sometimes he can get into range. Everyone can. But most of the time he can't, either because he's off balanced or the double team or he just doesn't have a good shot, which is why his FGAs have been so few this year. If you want to use the "I watched games and I know you didn't" card, I can go with the same by saying the player you described very rarely occured throughout the season. If that was how DMo always played, he'd be an all-star right now.
Not automatically. But the way you describe dmo it is clear that you either do not watch the games or know nothing about basketball or are a troll.
I like DMo facing up and taking the slower bigs off the dribble. And then posting up smaller bigs. Then picking and popping. Need to pair him with Josh or Dwight. The TJo-Dmo combo is too weak on rebounding
I'm terribly sorry. You are right that I am a troll. My true feelings are that DMo is the greatest Rocket to ever grace the planet, his hook shot makes Hakeem's dreamshakes look like Rafer's teardrops. He combines the shooting touch of Ray Allen, the ferocity of Shaq, and the graceness of the Dream. Thank you for outing me. I'll never dare question the greatness of DMo ever again.
