Aren't there more than 100,000,000 more Americans now than there were in 1983? Shouldn't they be comparing percentages, not raw numbers, since there are that many more numbers, or am I missing something here?
I hadn't heard that in the last 20 years America grew by almost one third. That doesn't sound right to me. I could be wrong. Anyone have the figures?
Not revenues, no. But, if you want them to be higher as a percentage of GDP, yes, you absolutely do. That's the scary part about that graph, and that's what I was saying was that we would need an unbelievably long economic expansion to make those two lines converge. If that graph just showed real numbers and not percentages, it would look even worse.
