Hey is there any GOOD product, trick, technique to use to keep mosquitoes at bay? They are really bad around my block and I believe it is because of the ditch that is located about 50 ft from the house and that runs paralell to the street that I live on. When I try to go outside and sit and chat with folks I am overwhelmed by these pesky little bastards. Off works pretty good but I hate putting it on. Citronella candles just don't seem to work to me. So are there any products or tricks or ANYTHING you guys might suggest as a way to keep these damn bugs away?

Try Cedarcide ! This produce is a mulch that you can put in your flower bads or potted plants. You can find it at Wal-mart or any large hardware stores.

my girlfriend has a lotion called "Skin So Soft" that when applied to the skin keeps them away. It`s a lotion from Avon I believe.

I've heard this before too, strangely. I know a couple of science geeks who have to work in the arctic in the summers, where the mosquitos get thicker than the air, and they swear that certain simple skin lotions are the best thing. I think "Skin So Soft" is one of the best, but I can't remember.

I just got about 100 bites during our recent backpacking trip to the high Sierras. I had this ridiculous little device that's supposed to make a high-frequency tone that drives them away, but the bugs would even land on it -- it did nothing.

On the news the other night, they mentioned keeping grass clippings out of the street, maybe you can start a grass roots movement to keep people from blowing their clippings into the street, the curb and subsequently, the storm sewers. In the sewers is where the clippings mix with water to create the perfect soup to breed mosquitos....

I have a friend who swears by garlic pills. Where you get them or if they really work or not, I don't know. Apparently insects don't like the smell, which isn't strong enough for a human to notice.

Find the insect repellent with the highest concentration of DEET.

    Only thing that really works.

A friend swears by the dryer sheet method. I haven't tried it yet but now that I've seen it mentioned twice, I just might see if it works.

    USE YOUR CELL PHONE!!!

Noise From Phone Can Chase Mosquitoes

SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea's largest mobile phone operator said Thursday that it will offer cell phone users a new noise service that it says will repel mosquitoes.

SK Telecom Co. said subscribers can pay 3,000 won (US$2.50) to download a sound wave that is inaudible to human ears but annoys mosquitoes within a range of three feet. Customers can then play the sound by hitting a few buttons on their mobile phones.

The company claimed that the service worked during tests.

The service, which begins Monday, has one drawback: it consumes as much battery power as normal cell phone rings.
