The view is definitely not overrated, especially sunset.

I too recommend Blanton, its a pretty nice museum on the edge of UT campus. I used to go there in between classes sometimes.
And right across from the Blanton is the Bob Bullock museum, both good places to go.

At 11? What? To find out your too late? Better think more like 9. Frankly, (pun unintended) while Franklin's is the best, I'd opt for a almost as good but less crowded place like La Barbecue.

Firs thing is food. So many great choice. I particularly love Eastside cafe myself.

I love Zilker park and Arboretum. Is it too cold to paddle boat now?

Do you like Hiking? The Barton Spring greenbelt is awesome. Mt. Bonnell?

Of course there is the night life but that's not really my thing.

That's it I'm going to Austin next weekend.

Is it? I went like a year ago, and it wasn't too bad. I can't imagine the line being as bad as Franklin's, where do all these people come from?

It's pretty bad now. Every time I want BBQ I just end up driving by the line at La Barbeque and then driving by the line at Franklin and then going to Mueller Meat Co and waiting for about 20-30 minutes.

You get there at open and you wait around 30 minutes. LA is my favorite BBQ place.

Please avoid the oasis, it's complete crap except the view.

Sorry, the view isn't overrated, everything else about the experience is. The Oasis is where UT students take their out-of-town parents for dinner. You can get a great view for free, without the terrible food and prices, at Mt. Bonnell and the Pennybacker Bridge overlook. Hell, even the view of the skyline from Red Bud Isle Rd. is a great one.

Also, if you like art, the Umlauf sculpture garden is also a lot of fun and interesting.

Please avoid Toyota Center, it's complete crap except the games and concerts that go on there.

The capital is also there, if you are into that. What was that place that had Mexican Martinis that you were limited to just two? Trudy's or something like that?
