I'd be pleased if we can pick up both of these guys.
. KO's game has come around in the past year. Steady on the offensive end if not spectacular. I was surprised to find that he is only 6'-2. He looks taller and plays solid defense. I don't recall him getting overpowered by bigger guards.

. Pike's game is very good. Great outside shooter who will take the ball to the basket. Plays decent defense too as I remember.

These are exactly the kind of guys we need and can actually get. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Murray makes even Glen Rice look like an all-defensive team guy.

Piatkowski plays small forward and guard.

I think the Rox's are also targeting Antonio Daniels. It's gonna be on Fox in a little while. Mark Berman said they are targeting another guard and had a video of Antonio Daniels.

Aren't we already giving part of the MLE to Posey? The offer was already in the $2 mil category giving us the rights to keep him restricted.
I don't see us signing both of them, maybe one of them...unless one was willing to actually sign for less money, but then again this isn't the Lakers...then again neither of them are Payton and Malone

Ollie can be a good replacement for Moochie.

No, we can resign Posey for more or less what we want because we have his Larry Bird rights.

I'd like the Rockets to get Odom, but Mobley and Taylor won't get it done, and Odom isn't a player you want to spend $10M a year on. Talk about a bad contract.

the rockets HAVE contacted the agent of Antonio Daniels (played with portland last year)

The rocks are movin in the right direction, they finally realized that moochie sucks and are lookin for a decent replacement, id be happy w/ Daniels or Ollie. Doesnt bother me either way.....both are established backup point gaurds that can play. Oliie is better defensively but Daniels is a better shooter.

Pike would be a great pickup to strengthen our bench.....having a decent back up to Mobley would be huge....that way he does not, i repeat, DOES NOT have to play 48 minutes a game. Thats a always a plus. :D

I can see it now.....Yao backin it in and kickin out to Pike or Boki for the 3!!

Antonio Daniels is another good choice for a backup PG. Both Daniels and Ollie have decent size 6'4" and both play decent defense. They both would be MAJOR upgrades to Moochie as the backup PG. Would allow Francis some decent rest time which is important.

Again, no these aren't HUGE moves but they would add some nice role players to the team and that is important!

sign Piatowski and Ollie. Trade Mo + Rice for B.Grant + filler. Resign Pose. We got the pg, shooter, and banger. Offseason over.

    Our lineup:

    Steve/Ollie/Mooch
    Cat/Piatowski
    Posey/Nachbar/Piatowski
    B. Grant/Eddie
    Yao/Cato

I like this trade, but Miami doesn't really have any filler (other than Eddie Jones, which is a lot of filler). Miami is under the cap about 10 - 11 Million - maybe they would do this trade without sending us filler. They would still have $6 million under the cap to sign Arenas or Kandi, and would open up Rice's slot for a free agent next summer.

in an article about JKidd's deliberations in today's nytimes, there's this little tidbit about their plans if kidd bolts:

"Even the Nets' other free-agent plans are waiting for Kidd. Should he leave, the Nets' backup plans for a starting point guard feature the journeyman Kevin Ollie, who has played with nine different teams, including the Nets for 19 games in the fall of 2000."

Rice and Moochie works for Grant, if the Heat want to get out of that contract bad enough they'd do it. The problem then becomes what to do with Mo because you have alot of money wrapped up in the PF postion with Grant, Mo, Griff.

I like the thoughts of Antonio Daniels and Eric "The Polish Rifle" Piatkowski joining the squad.

Neither player requires 15-20 shots a game to be effective, both have solid games and could contribute off the bench. I dont think Kevin Ollie offers much, but anything is an improvement over the Mooch.

gettin stevie some rest is important but IMO, its not as important as keepin cat off the floor for at least 10-15 min a game......that way i think u can get him some rest and make the defense adjust to another type of player in Pike. Id rarher them split the minutes 30-18.....that would be ideal.....kinda like a platoon

I like the thinking but for Grant it has to be Cato or Mo or Rice + Mooch. I would do any of these deals--though I would suspect Miami would take either Cato (they need a C) or Rice (cap space). If it is Rice then we need to move either Mo (preferably--but hard) or Cato--probably for a servicable 1 or 3, depending on other FA signings.

Oh, I don't like AD for us. We don't need a athletic tweener guard. We could best use either a pure shooter swingman, or defense and discipline oriented PG--AD fits neither that well.

I think they would take Mo. Definitely. They could still have money for Arenas and resign Zo. Their lineup:

    Arenas
    Jones/Wade
    Butler
    Mo
    Zo

thats a playoff team. And Mo compliments Zo perfectly.

Meanwhile, B. Grant and Ming would be a good combo as well. He will get Ming's back.

Berman of 26 sports just reported that Ollie's agent is saying another team has offered Ollie much more than Houston will be able to offer.. so Ollie aint coming to Houston.
