They really need to drop the hammer on these guys to maintain any integrity as league considering the history of cheating and how the league handled the Saints situation. Big fines, loss of picks, and maybe a suspension.

I say try the ballboy as an adult and give him the death penalty! That'll make Bill and Tom think twice about cheating again.... Or maybe not.

this is the go-to strategy for crisis management

everyone says they know nothing, but they are very upset/concerned, will conduct a thorough investigation

then wait it out until no one is talking about it anymore

I'm not sure this is the case. The NFL is the one that helped made a big deal of this in the first place. They are the ones hiring forensic investigators and the like. The NFL could easily have done a quick investigation, said there wasn't much evidence left post-game, levied a big fine and made the whole thing disappear. We're getting leaks suggesting that the NFL offices are pissed at the Patriots, and possibly that they might have run a sting operation. None of this suggests the NFL wants it to all go away quietly.

This is beginning to look more like the NFL is focusing more on severe long-term punishment of the Pats instead of doing anything prior to the SB.

Totally agree - I don't think they want to mess with SB week, but they seem determined to get the Patriots for basically flaunting rules at will. I would guess the whole eligible/ineligible receiver stuff annoyed the front offices too.

Best punishment for the Pats would be for the NFL to come out and release a statement: "The Patriots are cheaters."

Just leave it at that. That's enough to taint their entire franchise forever.

His reasoning made little sense to the situation.
Why weren't the Colts footballs at the same PSI then?

Belichick's performance was as strong as possible. Right now, I don't think he was involved in whatever happened. Brady is another story.

If Belichick is guilty of wrongdoing, he is the best liar I've ever heard.

Man Belichick, I couldn't stop laughing at that presser. Some of his references were hilarious.
