I just have one simple question. My fiends in Houston are all convinced that the Rockets are going to make the Cato/Eddie deal happen for Rasheed. That sounds perfect to me (even though people gripe about his problems). That dude can flat out fill it up. Point being, is their any realistic chance of this happening??

    I like his game.

    I dont like his thuginess.

If I could take the first part and leave the second, I would love to have him on our team. Hell anyone in the NBA would love to have him on their team If that were the case.

Plus that grey spot is annoying.....

I will say last year Rasheed calmed down big time. Maybe he finally matured. But in Portland, it seems it would be impossible for anyone to mature. His numbers hae been great, his behaviour has been the question mark. Hopefully if he is here in Houston, he will continue to mature.

We have to make that trade to keep up with SA, LA, Sac, Dal, and Minn. All of those teams have already improved greatly from last year, or will improve, or were all ready way better then us.

This year the Western Conference will be about as hard as it can get. If Port is willing to do Cato/Eddie for Rasheed we HAVE to jump at it.

When Wallace has his head on straight, he is unstoppable on the offensive side and could easily be a top ten player.

    Ming
    Wallace
    Posey
    Mobley
    Francis

can contend for homecourt! Maurice and Nachbar would be our only viable backups though. Somehow we must find a way to trade Rice and Moochie for another guard or a swingman.

Keep up with them? Sorry to say it, but we aren't in the same race as them. This isn't our year to make a big splash. Lets get Rice of the books, unload some crap and then we'll make our play.

I would love to have Rasheed Wallace on the ROX nextseason, but I would not trade Kelvin Cato in that deal. In the west, we need to keep our size advantage to compete with the Lakers. Spurs and Blazers. I would rather throw in Rice and Moochie or some other combination of "CRAPOLA" along with Eddie Griffin instead of CATO.

We could probably get them to throw in Stoudamire - ;) ...I wouldn't want to give up Cato either, but Sheed can back up Yao... We'd have an outstanding frontcourt, and depth would be our problem, which we can hopefully address with Rice's contract ending after this season.

EXACTLY. This is not the year to load up for a championship run. It will be in 2 or 3 years (hopefully), but not this year. Let's MAKE the playoffs before we worry about cracking the top 4 seeds in the West.

i forgot about wallace, but a definitely agree with getting him.

i really don't see technicals being an issue...

not even in the top five. francis is more volatile.

who else will put shaq, grant, brown, magloire, or najera in their place when yao doesn't have enough hair on his assprin to say anything? i dunno... maybe yao's changed in the offseason. sigh... hope so.

    anyway... bring on 'sheed.

To get the salaries to work it looks like it would have to be EG + Rice + Mooch for Wallace. I would be interested in this trade if EG doesn't look much improved going into next season. If he does look improved--probably would not do this trade--Wallace is a FA in 04.

Also, Wallace is almost exactly the same age as Mobley--they both will be 29 soon--so they are not too far off the age core of the team. Both are only 1.5 years older than KG or TD. In sum Wallace will be effective a plenty long time if you could resign him.

The key on a move like this hinges on whether we think EG is our future fixture at the 4. We should have a pretty good idea him going into his 3rd year. If he is going to ge 3/4 what Sheed is it is better to keep EG because of his youth and cheaper price.

Today I heard Jim Rome say the Blazers are looking at reducing payroll through the whole organization from the front office to the players.
Maybe they deal Wallace (their highest paid player) for a contract that expires this year like Glen Rice? Rice and Cato are a prefect salary match, but that puts us in the market for a backup center and we would need to unload Taylor or Griffin.

If you really think about it Wallace is not what this team needs. And anyone that really knows the Rockets will know this.

What we need is someone around his age but is tough. That likes to block shots and rebound. And as far as I know Wallace does not rebound well.

Any way you look at it Ming and Francis are going to need a lot of shots. And we dont need a player that takes away from us on that front and doesnt give us the other things you need on this team.

I think we need a point guard that plays good defense and move Steve to SG. I think that is better.

This is best case at what I can see happening for this team.
    1. Resign Posey
    2. Get Boki some playing time this year, to see if he can become a reliable back up
    3. Keep the team intact as is and make the playoffs this year
    4. Next season Rice's contract will come off the books, and that should give us enough money to pick up a pretty good PG.

    Starting Lineup

    PG maybe Jamal Crawford
    SG Steve Francis
    SF James Posey
    PF Eddie Griffin
    C Yao Ming

    Bench

    Cuttino Mobley
    Maurice Taylor
    Boki Nachabar
    Kelvin Cato

And if we can not get Crawford that is fine I just think that we could use a player like him, even if he wont be as good.

I think that is a good bench. I think this is a much better solution then getting a player like Wallace. Actually I dont think there is a better way to things, at least realistically

Tell me what you think I think t

Cato/Rice for Wallace would be a dream come true. Best possible trade we could make. If that trade were to happen, I don't know what I'd do, I can't contain the excitement just thinking bout that happening.
