Kevin Hart sure as hell should of! Also, all of the Actors and Actresses from any Tyler Perry film that came out this year! OOOH how about Ceasar from Planet of the Apes?? Pretty freaking racist to all the digitized animals from the animal kingdom for him not being nominated, and its racist that a White British dude was his motion capture actor!!!!

I think its a travesty that Ralph Finnes and Lego Movie got snubbed, more than no black actresses or actors being nominated. Race baiters everywhere.....

    What a racist film!
    #blackSwansMatter

    LOLs. Nice. Hahaha...

Nope. Asian peeps don't complain or throw temper tantrums on online forums... like other people do. Or at least I haven't seen as many.

If you're a bad actor, you're just a bad actor.

Suggesting a monkey with other black actors? You're racist, bro.

Ape...not monkey. Poor choice for an example, I would have nominated the Penguins.

Knightley getting nominated is rubbish. She was fine but that role was so limited by the script. Oh lookie: a smart woman! She can do math! What range Kiera has.

Yep, that's what this seems to be about. This one guy wasn't nominated. I think there would be a better case for racism if there were several Academy-worthy performances by African American this year that all got left out.

Every article I've read seems to be about this one movie being snubbed. So it essentially comes down to this...if you don't think this one movie AND all its players were were worthy of an Oscar nomination, then there's a good chance you are racist.

Gyllenhall was a more egregious snub than Oyelowo if you're judging purely off the quality of the performances.

At he front of the list is Ralph Fiennes. His performance elevated GPH to masterpiece level. Any other actor and you have a solid Wes Anderson film.

    I beg to differ.

Didn't feel GBH was a masterpiece even w/Ray in it.

So 1 snub and it's racism?

There were a handful of other actors who were also "snubbed"

    Doesn't make it racist

Can we just ignore the very few people who are claiming racism in the academy and just talk about movies? No, I know. Who am I kidding.

FWIW, the snub if you ask me, from Selma, was Carmen Ejogo as best supporting actress, or Tom Wilkinson as best supporting actor. Oyelowo did a great job when King was speaking, but otherwise, he just looked constipated a lot. I'm not even kidding. Maybe that's the director's fault.

Wait..so one can say one year is proof enough of a change in the way things have been done/M.O for over more than 20 years?

    Good to know.
Where did I say 1 snub was a racist snub?

You probably inferred incorrectly from my posts here. Might want to separate my reply in here to the person that posted about the awards and Lupita etc from my belief that Oyelowo was "snubbed" and the reason why he was.

    Good point made.
I can respect your opinion as to Oyelowo and who you felt was snubbed. Might not agree w/it but better to move on and just talk about the movies and our thoughts about the actual movies and acting performances.

It's recent so surely it should be weighted more than the 20 years ago if you're trying to find a trend.

I'll have to disagree as I feel a one year sample does not indicate enough of a trend to lean that way.

Well, since the turn of the century 3 black actors have won the best actor Oscar, 1 best actress, 1 best supporting actor, and 4 best support actress. So in 13 years blacks have won 9 out of 52 possible acting Oscars. That's a better percentage than they have representative in the population. And clearly a trend up from the previous years.

You must've forgotten about Best Director as well?
That's nice that 9 out of 52 awards were won by that group of people but I didn't realize we were now basing award wins(and nominations) on the percentage by which a certain group are represented in the population..

Anyway, this can keep going or we can do what "B-Bob" requested and just discuss the movies nominated and actors/actresses nominated as well as our favourites to win etc.
