yep I like our old Rockets logo better than this one. Why don't they just go retro and just update the colors a little bit?
I love the new logo, It has a corporate businees-like look to it which is classy. Its has an edgy Gothic look to it. It even has a "Buffy" look to it too. But most of all, its simple, sleek, and unique as advertised. Also, it DOES NOT HAVE ONE COLOR. The logo has a slight dropshadow in black. On the red cap I have, there appears to be a slight silver drop-shadow. And I believe that circle everyone is talking about (its called an ellipse) elludes to a basketball hoop and the new arena. The arena will have a lighten up red "halo" on its roof line. Also, I hate to start up a bad thing but.................. Remember all of those rumors about the rockets having a "super hero" symbol type logo on the front of the jersey to replace "Houston." Now we have our "super-hero" symbol type logo. But will it be on the front of the jersey? I am starting to think it WILL.
As a graphic designer, I have at least five complaints about the new logo: 1) it lacks impact and character. 2) It's not very dynamic 3) It's too tall and ... uh ... whispy. 4) The word 'bold' does not come to mind while looking at it. 5) It looks somehow unfinished 6) and amateurish. The current logo (without the face, of course) would be MUCH better than this fly-circled load. My professional assessment: It sucks ass.
I don't know what all the fuss is about. I think this logo is simple. Less is more. I've showed this logo to friends in NYC, Dallas, ATL... they all like it.
Look at the font on LeBron's shirt. Doesn't it look like the old Rockets font? This should have been the Rockets colors and font. Sorry for the repost.
exactly. i was taken aback by the logo at first, but it is exactly what everyone ordered. I remember writing a few paragraphs on rockets.com requesting a logo w/ all of the attributes shown here. I can't yell at them now for taking my advice. For those of you disappointed right now... go hang out, catch a Coors commercial or something, and give the logo a new look. The black outline that tigereye pointed out will be a bit more distinct. looks good.
Redrum, love it. Have you ever tried it? I have it handy at parties all the time. It really is a good rum too. It says Redrum on the front but you can see through the bottle, so you know what it says through the back. Oh yeah, I really like the logo too. Red Rum
I'll pass. It looks like it's dripping in blood, but still looks better than that phallic, mouthed rocket. Bring back a variation of the old logo.
I don't like it. It's bland and monodynamic. It's boring. It's not bold and there is no presence to it. Some kind of border or something more that the miniscule shaddow would help. I much prefer the lettering from our current uni's. They don't look so one dimensional. I am extremely dissapointed. Also, if this logo appears on the jersey then 'ugh'. If it appears on the shorts like the current "R" logo then fine but PLEASE not on the actual jersey.
You've got to admit, there isn't any logo that comes close to it. It's very gothic and unique. All the freaking gang-bangers are gonna start wearing Rockets garb like the Raiders of the 80's.
Eiko Ishioka EIKO ISHIOKA is a revolutionary artist whose internationally acclaimed work for stage, screen, advertising, and print media has made her one of the premiere visual artists of the 20th century. Best known as the Academy Award winner for costume design for Bram Stoker's Dracula, Eiko's provocative and shockingly beautiful vision can be seen on August 18th in The Cell, starring Jennifer Lopez. Eiko's long list of credits includes the 1985 Cannes Film Festival Award for Artistic Contribution for her production design of Paul Schrader's film Mishima, a Tony nomination for the stage and costume design of the Broadway play "M. Butterfly," and a Grammy Award for the art work for Miles Davis' "Tutu" album, to name just a few. Most recently, Eiko brought her creative sensibilities to bear on the conservative opera world with her costume design for Richard Wagner's "Ring Cycle," at the Netherlands National Opera. Maybe she should have gotten more Wagnerian.
Whatever. This is freaking basketball, not broadway!!!! What next? A freaking orchrestra at the games? You must wear a dinner jacket at all games? Gimme a break!
i think the ring around the logo is supposed to be a "sonic boom" which shows the rocket is going really fast & gives it movement. i like it. that Eiko girl is pretty hot, she looks like she is about to rip her shirt open in that picture...
For the logo, wouldn't it have made more sense to make an H instead of an R? The legs on the H can be two proportional blood dripping rockets with the ring in the middle to complete the H. Blood dripping rockets or a smiling dildo rocket, which is worse?
