That's an very ignorant statement. Born in the USA, Glory Days, The Rising, Badlands, Blinded by the light (just to name a few of his most famous songs) are not even love songs. And of course Born to Run is so much more than a love song. Aren't you the guy that loves Bon Jovi? So you love crappy overproduced cliched love songs. Got it. But what should I expect from a guy who dismisses a band (a good one too) without hearing any songs. Okay, I'm with you on this one. And yeah, I get Reign in Blood can be quite visceral, but I can't seem to enjoy it. Maybe I wasn't born with enough testosterone.
For me: Arcade Fire-I can't stand Winn Butler's voice, or really lack thereof. Kings of Leon Black Keys - I don't particularly hate them just find them overrated. DMB - I don't get them at all. And that's not even counting the garbage that is: Nickelback, Maroon 5, or virtually an pop rock band from the last decade. As for Sacred Cows: 1. The Doors - not totally without merit, but they are not the rock gods that every teenage boy thinks they are at some point, nor is Jim Morrison a poet or even a good lyricist. (Many of their hits are written solely by guitarist Robby Krieger) 2. Grateful Dead - Again not bad, just not as great as their reputation. American Beauty is actually a great album. I've listened to a few live shows (most notably Dick's Picks Vol 4) and found it for lack of a better word, boring. 3. Journey - Steve Perry has a strong distinctive voice. But oh god is Journey terrible in all other ways. Bland pop/crappy prog rock. And have you ever played their video game? I think it qualifies as the worst game ever. 4. Kiss - This band is the turning point when it became less about the music and more about look. And this is the band that brought us "Beth" possibly the first wimpy power ballad. Only saving grace? Ace Frehley. 5. Sex Pistols - Punk rock pioneers, but really they only have 4 good songs ( 2 of which are masterpieces) and mostly just crap and reputation. The Clash are vastly superior.
The Doors - never could get in to them The Beatles - overrated, but they do have some good song. Tom Petty - was a big fan until I saw him live. Worst concert ever. h think He was on his songs you never heard of that should have been hits tour.
The Smiths - I've mentioned this before, but I just don't get them. Yeah, yeah, I know the guitar player is good. But Morrisey's voice.....my GOD. He sounds like a whiny little girl when he sings. Never could understand how any heterosexual male could like them - yet a lot of my friends in high school did. It's still perplexing to me. KISS - I used to love them........when I was 7 years old. I've since moved on. So should Gene and Paul. Didn't they have a "farewell" tour like, 14 years ago? Maroon 5 - I didn't want to mention a band that had already been mentioned, but I couldn't help myself. Question: are there any MALE Maroon 5 fans? Only fans I've ever met were females who think the singer is cute. He sings like he just inhaled a helium balloon.
Francis Scott Key. Possibly the weakest lyricist of all time. Yet everyone can sing every word to his 1 hit wonder.
As a fan of Obscure Metal Bands (OMB) I dislike pretty much every popular band. I do like some non-metal bands too, of course, but I am a metalhead first and foremost. So instead of just listing every band ever, I'll list some that are supposed to be genuinely good but I just don't see it: Rolling Stones Bruce Springsteen U2 Aerosmith Foo Fighters Dave Matthews Band Tom Petty Kiss These bands suck so hard I don't know how anyone can like them, much less talk of them in reverent tones. Spoiler And to prove I'm not an OMB-only-fan, here are the non-metal bands out there that I genuinely like: Rush Pink Floyd Radiohead Every other band other than those listed and OMBs are somewhere on the scale between "I can tolerate some of their songs" and "absolute garbage; band members deserving of death."
I think that means you had a chick. Oh and to answer the question: The Doors. A million times over, The Doors.
