Guitarist and Vocals - Stevie Ray Vaughn
    A two way superstar

    Drummer - Kieth Moon
Played and lived with wild abandon

    Bass - Duck Dunn
You could pretty much pick a 'best band' just from the
Stax Records' session players but I'll just pick this
    one as their representative.

Hammond B-3, Piano, Vocals - Gregg Allman
Living the authentic blues/ rock life.

Honorable mention: Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page, The Rythmn Section from Little Feat, Stevie Winwood , Eric Clapton, Paul Rogers ( probably my fav vocalist you know him best from Bad Company) Lou Grahmn (Free) Bruce Hornsby on Piano, Jack Bruce (the bass player behind Hendrix)

The only thing that would be "ultimate" about alot of these groups would be the fighting over who gets to solo/write the songs/be the loudest. The whole "too many players, not enough touches" doesn't just apply to basketball players.

But anyways, here's my choices for the ultimate instrumental jazzy/ambient rock band

    Guitar - Kevin Shields
Bass - Aston "Family Man" Barrett
Keys - Brian Eno (I don't know how good a player he is, but he's a great writer)
    Drums - Jack DeJohnette

    The ultimate jazz-rock band

    Guitar - Jimi Hendrix
    Keys - Herbie Hancock
Bass - Bootsy Collins (not a jazz player, but I like him better than Jaco)
Drums - Billy Cobham or Tony Williams

    The ultimate 'weak-ass players" band

    Guitar - Alex Lifeson
    Bass - Micheal Anthony
Keys - the guy from Duran Duran
    Drums - Larry Mullin Jr

Great call with Richard Hell and Johnny Thunders.

As for the Damned Drummer, I alwasy thought his name was Rat Scabies. If Johnny Blitz is Rat's real name I wonder why get rid of a name like Blitz!? Though I would say that Rat Scabies has always been one of my favorite names ever.

Anyway Just a question about the Damned.
