I wouldnt be so sure of that. from espn: full story maybe he's just pushing the Bucks for more cash...but it doesnt sound that way to me. and also....Malone to Houston? no way, no thanks. we can do better than him.
Ummm let's see... Malone+Payton+Bryant+ONeal... that would be SWEET to see... But ya know it would NEVER NEVER work! Because all FOUR of them are BALL HOGS! They ALL FOUR want to TOUCH the darn ball! I don't want MALONE on the Rox, because Ming needs all the touches he can get! It is the only way he will get better! Now if we get a GOOD STRONG PF who can REBOUND and not worry bout scoring then I am all for it! But not for a PF who SCORES and doesnt really rebound at all. Heck Griffin and Mo Taylor combined last year out performed Malone!
Perhaps, but Tim is still "earning" his way to the top. If he maintains his current pace with the same achievement level as Malone, and for as long as Malone, then I will defer to your assessment. Until then, you must give the devil his due.
Rockets2K: "I wouldnt be so sure of that [Payton re-signing with the Bucks]. [...] maybe he's just pushing the Bucks for more cash...but it doesnt sound that way to me." I saw that report in the paper this morning -- Mea culpa! More: Report: Gary Payton Leaving Bucks (Milwaukee Channel) Payton's list: Heat, Blazers or Lakers_ (Miami Herald) Lakers get closer to deal for Jazz's Malone (Whittier Daily News,_CA) Glove, Mailman would fit in like a ‘Dream’ (MSNBC) Here's an excerpt from the MSNBC story:
IF THE SITUATION PLAYS out like it has been scripted in some circles, the Lakers would start Kobe Bryant (if an accusation for sexual assault doesn’t turn into prevent him from playing), Shaquille O’Neal, Gary Payton, Karl Malone and a random fifth individual who would hardly matter given the Hall of Fame credentials of the first four. A collection like that would be as close to a dream team as it gets in the salary cap/luxury tax rigidity of the current NBA. Again, I’ll believe it when I see it. Although it appears Malone already has consented to a rock-bottom price in order to accommodate Payton and don Lakers finery, The Glove holds the key. Payton is an anguished man crouched on a picket fence: intrigued by the prospect of playing on a sure championship favorite, but tempted by the siren call of beaucoup simoleans. The bet here is still on the money. But if Payton and Malone should join Kobe, Shaq and Phil Jackson, the result will be hardwood bliss. It would be like watching an All-Star squad that was allowed to play together for months in a proven system under a masterful coach who understands and appreciates veteran players. It would feature two superstars who already have three championship rings and who yearn for more after coming off a tumultuous and disappointing season, plus two more superstars famished for team success.
Other MSNBC commentators weigh in: GUOKAS: Malone, Lakers not a good fit (MSNBC) VENTRE: Pippen, Malone would help L.A. (MSNBC) Matt Goukas writes, "I think Malone is more interested in the personal goal of getting the scoring record than he is of winning his first NBA championship. As for Pippen, who is 37, his first choice would be to re-sign with the Blazers." There's a poll on the MSNBC site. Right now, 65% say the Lakers would win with Malone and Payton, while 35% say "There won't be enough shots to go around." Anyway, it remains to be seen how the Kobe situation will affect all this, but it appears the Lakers will indeed get to underpay a couple of hall of famers next year. Who says money can't buy you love?
I think he'd be perfect here! Yes way! but highly freakin unlikely... It would be a great big splash and surprise if he signed here! He could hang out with Patrick and Glen...oldies He'd be a good addition............really
The great Karl Malone paradox is the fact that he obviously wants a ring and the scoring title; not necessarily in that order, but he doesn't play like he cares anymore. I live in SLC and so I end up watching a lot of jazz games (I cheer against them of course). He doesn't play with any intensity. Some of that could be due to the fact that after 18 seasons he has realized that God himself will never allow the jazz to win a championship. But still, Karl doesn't play like he cares about any thing except Karl Malone anymore. Wouldn't want him on the rockets.
