Stretches, stretches, stretches and more stretches. He needs to stretch more before and after every game. You guys saw what Kyrie did to us last night after taking a game off? I like how he sat out because his back was sore. He came back rejuvenated with fresh legs and muscles, and torched us. Ariza is our oldest starter and he averages the most minutes out of them, even more than Harden. I would understand if he was Jimmy Butler and he was still 25, but he is not. Damn, I forgot my man Jimmy Butler was born in Houston. If we can't get Dragic, Butler would be a nice plan B.
As long as he is contributing on the defensive end, I have faith that he will be back on target for the playoffs.
Ariza playing the passing lanes excuses his poor shooting quite a bit. I'd like to see him get a bit more consistent, though. It seems like the more open he is, the worse his shot is. Those steals, though. Those steals are momentum changers.
those bricks are momentum changers as well....just stop shooting for a while... good thing happens when you share the ball...but i think its not his fault i think he wanted to stop long time ago but mc hale adviced him to keep bricking... anyway were his shots falling would would run straight into SAS or OKC in the first round...and i dont think anybody on rockets wants to meet OKC in the 1st round...
This is an astonishingly bad trend. I keep thinking there's no way he can keep shooting this bad, but it's actually getting worse. Statistically speaking, there's no way he can continue shooting this bad, right? Does he have Matt Schaub/Brad Lidge syndrome?
This, if he was bricking and not bringing anything to the table then I would be pissed, but the guy gives effort on the defensive end, gets steals etc. To me it's a wash. Having said that I think the will be fine towards the end and will get it all dialed in because having those threes will really help us.
I wrote this in the "Offense is now a problem" thread from July: "Ariza is our third best player as things stand now...and this is a guy who had a slightly above league average contract year, preceded by four consecutive below league average years. He's a guy who shot 40% from three in that contract year, but has a career mark just under 35%. He's a 28 year old who has played for six different teams (and one of them twice). That's your third best player." So no, I'm not surprised, and he isn't markedly worse than he's been throughout his career. He had one above-league=average year, Parsons hurt some folks' fee-fees, and that was enough for many to elevate their expectations. In fairness to Ariza, no one should be surprised that he is playing like the below-average offensive player he's always been.
5 steals a game along with really good defense and still a streaky shooter for half the price of parsons. I think its still a preety good deal. I would rather have him shooting lights put in the playoffs like he did in the beginning than now.
I think he might already set a record on his own He hasn't just been below 50% but actually below 42% for the last 27 games - impressive:grin:
hes not a streaky shooter ... hes just plain terrible shooter... and hes note averaging 5 steals a game...i still like him a lot more than parsons if he would only stop shooting so much...
"I remember years ago Ariza tried to punch DeRozan in the back of the head, and luckily for both him and DeRozan he has bad aim and the shot he threw at DeRozan missed."
46% from 3 over his last 4 games, hopefully this means he's out of his shooting slump. During the Rockets 4-6 slump, Ariza was shooting an unsustainably bad 21%. I'm not sure how good a shooter Ariza is, but he clearly isn't that bad. He is a career 34% shooter (38% from the corner). There no real reason to expect that by years end he won't be around 34-35% this year. While not a great number, given his defensive excellence that number is more than acceptable.
