The guy looks nice to me as a PF, for sure he is WIP, but given 2 years he might be awesome. His size is OK, and I wish to he matchs up with Yao Ming, and we can have a young combo, and then probably ship Cato when he has his peak value right now.

Just a bit curious, his vertical is not that impressing, or it is just a video of practice, plus his mid range is also not sharp. Anyway, we don't expect too much for a second rounder to have impact instantly. But does anyone he will be in the team this year? or sent him back to Europe?

Sorry, guys, seems that he will be judged by his performance in summer league, so he is legally available for Rockets? I doubt.

I think it's a great idea that he go back to Europe for a few years....He'll learn a lot more fundamentals over there, plus the obvious more playing time. The Rockets will obviously be keeping an eye on him over the next year or so, and when he's developed any kind of offense game, he'll come over.
With Van Gundy, his defense and athleticism will be coveted. It seems like the catch phrase, but he just needs a little time. We can wait. This could be a huge steal. As someone said, we've had some luck with Africans.

I was somewhat impressed, he has a soft touch at least he wasn't throwing bricks. And I don't think there should be any question about his age, he definately looked like a 19 year old in the face. I think he really could develop, nice pick.

Did I just see him miss a dunk?

Gorramit, I was hoping for a Kevin Garnett and got...umm...<furiously searching for a humorous analogy>...Kevin Pollack!

But it was just a one minute video and the dude seemed extremely tired.

At least he made his free throws.

I was impressed when I read all the stories about Badiane but watching the video had dampened my enthusiam somewhat.

    He looked very raw.
. His form on FT looked a lot like Cato's.
. The J he attemped were the basic jump shots, not fade-away, not one with high elevation or quick release and he missed quite a few. He won't be able to knock anything down in a real game!
. He missed close in lay-ups too and had average elevation on the shots.
. The 1 dribble drive to the basket had no flare, no explosiveness.
. He bended over gasping for air in between drills like they had worked him for hours!

I don't know how he well he can defend and rebound, but so far I think I've watched a basic low 2nd rounder. Not one that can make major contribution right away.

He will need to stay in Europe for a yr or two.

this guy sucks. but he did make a couple of baskets so he'll probably make the team and then be signed to a 6 year $42 mil contract extension.

A couple of things to remeber. We don't know how long he had been working out. If the guy had been out there for hrs at a time, of course he might have been tired. He looks bigger than 230 lbs to me though.

actually it's kind of good he has no offensive game, so then he can concentrate on defense and rebounding just like Big Ben. Besides, we don't need another scorer anyways, just a crazy guy in the middle with a wingspan like Badiane's.

How can you make an assesment of the guy based on a one minute video? The guy is 19 years old and played in a division two league in Germany last year, what did you expect? He's going to take some time to develop, but at least he looks like he is athletic and can run the floor, if he can do that, block shots and rebound, then it was a great pick by the Rockets.
