I thought Nick Young's play was the bad decision there-- Lin had the right idea to go early and go for 3 but had bad execution-- the move he made got the defender off him and created space, but it was also so exaggerated that it got himself off balance. He should have maybe gathered himself for a split second longer and likely could have had a much more balanced attempt. Young, on the other hand, could have shot the ball with 30+ seconds left, allowing the Lakers an opportunity to defend without fouling if he missed. He didn't do that. Instead, he dribbled slowly for a few more ticks, and pull up for a contested 2 right after he killed the 2 for 1 opportunity. In this situation, you really should either go early for the 2 for 1 or at least use the time to run a play to find a possible open opportunity for somebody. Nick did neither. But then this team is coached by Byron "wait til 10 seconds left to foul when down a basket" Scott. I doubt the coaching staff spend much time on crunch time clock management with the players.
